1. Sawyer Products Filter Replacement Gasket

Sawyer Products Filter Replacement Gasket

The Stay clean drink nozzle keeps the mouth clean and sanitary. Replacement gasket/O-rings for use in Sawyer water filters. The Sawyer water purification systems include the Mini, Squeeze, and Micro Squeeze. They are made of food grade plastic and replace lost, loose, leaking, and worn gasket. When travelling, camping, hiking, and backpacking, keep a replacement gasket on hand. The dimensions are.9 inch outer and.9 inch inner.

Brand: Sawyer Products

👤They are supposed to do what they are supposed to do. They shouldn't exist. This part is easy to lose because of the design flaw. Customers should not have to buy spare parts. It's a completely unacceptable environmental impact. You cater to hikers and nature lovers so you should have more consciousness.

👤The Sawyer filters are great, but the gasket is their downfall. If you screw the pouch on too tight and squeeze too hard, the gasket will be useless. I always have an extra gasket in my kit. I still carry an extra gasket even though the full-size Sawyer is less prone to failure.

👤You could not listen to me and keep an extra one in your backpack. I'm going to be the one laughing at you when you lose it, and then I'm going to make you drink water that's free of nitrates. The answer is no, you can't use my filter. You can start boiling.

👤I used the Sawyer on a backpacking trip. I bought a pack of these spare parts because one of the gaskets almost got away from me. Great product. I like that I can use a liter of smart water bottles to squeeze water through the filter and not just the pouch, and I also like that I can refill hydration packs through the drinking tube.

👤The sawyer squeezes when using water bottles. Don't tighten the filter when you put it on the bottle. It's easy to mess up the gasket. The cheap and lightweight replacements helped me get past my mistakes and keep my filter working.

👤The gasket seals fit my Sawyer mini filter very well and appear to be of good quality. The six-pack will probably last me a long time. If you don't tighten them, they will last a long time. I strongly advise you to keep a couple of these in your pack.

👤I've seen many videos about the Sawyer Squeeze. There's a good product, but one problem I hear is that the rings are very easy to misplace when changing between filters. I've heard they can be mangled or degraded. Inexpensive extras can keep a trip from being ruined. Glad to have them.

👤The sawyer squeeze requires a spare washer. I carry a spare washer in case I lose my sawyer. If you like to drink water on the trail, weigh next to nothing and have good insurance.

2. Katadyn Membrane Endurance Camping Backpacking

Brand: Katadyn

👤Be Free and ditch your Sawyer. The large opening makes filling a breeze and much better than filling a sawyer squeeze pouch or a smart water bottle. I only needed to scoop up the water that was very shallow. I did a section hike on the AT. I had a Sawyer squeeze set up for gravity feed and a Katadyn BeFree that I was considering. I left the Sawyer at home and brought the BeFree because I knew I would be at Mountain Crossing in a few days. If it sucked, I could replace it at Neil's Gap. It doesn't stink. I could gather water from 99% of the sources and use the BeFree to purify it. The flow rate is very high. I would come up on the 3rd after people with Sawyers were done with their first liter. If you prefer to drink directly from the BeFree, the flow rate is high. I have tried this before with the Sawyer filters and found it to be less than satisfactory. The mini has too little flow and, even when used in-line with a bladder, the flow rate is terrible and will leave you with a hard time getting something to drink. The Squeeze is difficult to drink from because you have to squeeze the bottle hard to get water into your mouth and the bottle has low pressure in it to allow the pressure to balance. Since the BeFree is collapsible, you don't have to worry about the difference in pressure if you choose to drink directly from it. I hike with water bottles. I can fill 2 of them very quickly. If I knew I was going to be dry camping, I would fill the BeFree 1L bladder with an extra liter, so I would have extra water for cooking and in the AM. Unless you have an additional bladder, you don't have that option with a sawyer. I could not recommend this more. I still have the sawyer in my spare gear box for emergencies, but the BeFree stays in my pack.

👤The original negative review of this filter discussed a dramatic slow down of flow rate very early in the filters life. The cleaning protocol could not be used to fix the slow down. Many reviews discuss this observation. I "stumbled" on this fix, which suggested that air trapped in the loops of the filter could reduce flow rates. The sheet can be used to fix the problem by squeezing water out of the bottle with the top pointed upwards. It's located at the very end of the sheet after the suggestion to replace a slow filter and it's easy to overlook or forget. I can't be sure, but I think the slowdown people are seeing might be caused by trapped air. In my case, the trapped air release brought my filter back to 85% of new, up from the 30% I was observing.

👤I had high hopes for this filter. It was easier to fill with a larger bottle opening. With less than twenty liters of water, it stopped. In the Rockies, I only use this filter in clear, cold mountain streams. After every use, I followed cleaning directions closely. On the second day of the trip. The filter stopped allowing water to pass through when it was 25 miles away. Completely plugged in. I shook and swirled, and there was no difference. The flow was great until it stopped. Never again, back to a filter that you don't use.

Compared to the 0.2-micron straw on the market, the 0.1micron straw from Membrane Solutions is the best choice. The smaller frame of the water filters from Membrane Solutions makes them more convenient to use.

Brand: Membrane Solutions

👤I drank water from the toilet to see if it tasted bad. I'm still alive. I did not get sick from drinking the water.

👤This is a basic water filter to reduce the unpalatability of drinking water. The user should remember that viruses can pass through normal filters. They include the creatures that cause diseases. Protozoa can cause a number of diseases. Viruses cause diseases. I would use these on a naturally flowing artesian well or spring water near its source, but I'd have to be pretty desperate to use it on stagnant water, river or pond water, or any other water which could have been contaminated by a virus.

👤Really like the "Membrane Water Straw Filter". It was easy to use. The instructions on the box were very clear. Also comes with a carbon filter. Also, note: The first sip will have a taste of carbon. The water tasted clean after that.

👤It's the perfect size for your backpack. The first use of this product was in my classroom, where I was teaching about the water conditions of Chad. We mixed water with dirt and used it to demonstrate the effectiveness and potential of providing cleaner water. The students were impressed with the clear non tasting water.

👤I will put these up against the life straw. I prime mine with fresh water first, just look it up, the inside is dense and fibrous, and the cap is a snap on, so it's fast. Does not have a straw. You can add one for pennies. There is a lot of water in a survival situation. The condition of the water source affects the life of the straw.

👤I bought this camo water straw set to add to my survival kit. When the store's water runs dry, it will need to use a lake, canal or steam water purification system. Each one filters 284 gallons of water after two days of use. The price is great for a deal. They are for a back up source of water and will not be used for a while. Overall happy with the product.

👤The product was delivered on time. The product looks good. We didn't use the product until we got our emergency bag. This quality will be great for what we need. I would recommend and purchase again based on looks and quality.

👤Hike out of two different creeks. The water was delicious and I didn't die. If the cap had reverse threading, it would be better if a water bottle could be screwed into it to force water into a pot or canteen for later.

👤Erster Eindruck! Testen aret erstmal, so beispielsweise fr Optik/ Versand und Qualitt Erstmal.

👤Thank you, but not going to elaborate.

4. Survivor Filter Water Straw Micron

Survivor Filter Water Straw Micron

Brand: Survivor Filter

👤The filter is amazing. I had access to fresh springs in the first couple of hikes. It has been with me throughout Florida and I traveled to Cuba with it. I drank the tap water. No issues with the intestines ever! There are old pumps with high sulfur and iron water in the backcountry of Myakka River State Park. A friend had a different brand filter than the popular brand on the trail. The picture was taken in a dark tent during a storm. The water had a strong sulfur smell and taste, but it had already been sieved with the Sawyer, and the iron was still present. The bottle with the Survival Filter is the other one. There was no sulfur smell, no taste, and very mild mineral flavor. The difference is amazing. I recommend you suck it up and choose this one. The filter is heavier than the other ones. Come on, look at the picture. 2. The filter flow is very slow with each liter. Pre-filtering with a cloth helps. I would rather have the best water and take a little more time to get it. To keep the flow rate up, bring a few extra cotton pads.

👤I recently traveled to Africa. I tested the water from the kitchen and bath sinks in private homes in Senegal for parasites and waited one week to declare myself free of them. I feel safe knowing I had this in my tool kit when I traveled to countries without treated water.

👤I was pleased with this product. I have ordered this product before and had no problems. The reason for the four-star rating is that my most recent purchase of this product left something to be desired. One of the O-rings broke when the package was opened. I contacted the company and they replaced me in less than a week. The entire mouth piece O ring was replaced. I would say that the product is very good and that the customer service is excellent. It's because the company could do better and here's how. It's true that things like this are going to break, but it's also true that something as small as an O-ring is cheap to provide extras for. One extra O ring in each package would make certain that this product would be 100% quality guaranteed. Going hiking with only this filter might get you in trouble, other 99% of these might do perfect, and 1% might put you in a bit of a bind. You can't ask for much more out of this company, it's been good at providing decent quality and customer service, but a bit of foresight could make this product worth every penny and then some. I hope this company sees the review and provides extras of small cheap parts that might fail if they are essential. If I were to see that in future products, this would be the only company I use for personal water filters, and it would earn a six star rating.

Brand: Survimate

👤It's great for a small pack for a hike. Always carry a knife, mylar blanket, fire starter, compass, water bottle, loud whistle, power bar, paracord. They would be prepared no matter what situation they found themselves in.

👤The water filter is great. It is easy to pack. A name on the bag wasn't worth $50.00 after finding the same filter at a high dollar store. The spics were the same. We use it when we camp. It was fresh and safe.

👤This is a small setup. It has everything you need, and nothing you don't. It has two water bags to hold the water and the clean water. If you know what you're doing, you could use them to boil water if the filter wears out. You get a couple hoses to connect the water bags and the filter, a couple straps to hand it all from a tree, a small felt bag, and two light duty carabiners. This is a nice setup. It's not like the water straw type filters, but it's a great setup for automatic water purification. It is easy to keep a few people hydrated with clean water. When I converted the numbers, the filter made about 570 gallons of water. It has a small filter element. It's going to make it safe to drink from any water, because it's going to filter out dangerous and nasty stuff. This is perfect for those who hunt, fish, camp, or spend time outdoors being self sufficient. If you have the ability to make water safe, you could save your life. This is a great kit for that. Buy one for everyone in the family. I know I will.

👤The kit has two bags. The idea of being able to set it up and then walk away and let it work is something I like about this version. You can hang it on a tree or fence with the included clips and lanyards. I like the included needle to backflush the filter. Keep it clear. There are a couple things. There is no marking on the bags or tubes that say " dirty" or " clean". If you use a bag or tube that has dirty water in it, you should mark it. The bags don't fit all the way in the black bag provided. The instructions state that you shouldn't use salty water. I wonder if it would work in a desert where you have to filter urine. Some water filters do provide or offer as an accessory, but perhaps an R.O. membrane would work for that.

👤The small cardboard box with a carry storage bag holds the water filter straw. The hoses are flexible. The system can be suspended with straps and carabiners. A hose clip for managing the length of the tubes is included. The directions with pictures on the item's description are thorough enough for use, although when to use the backflushing device is not explained in the paper directions in the box. When the flow rate decreases, I see recommendations to backflush once a week. The bag capacity is 3000 ML and the lifespan is 3000L according to the charts. The water bags have a sturdy feel, and the apparatus they attach to at the top seems designed to support their weight. A larger hand can fit in the water bags to clean them. The total weight of the system and carrying bag is more than 13 ounces. It looks like this is a good safety net for home or on the trail.

6. LifeStraw Advanced Water Filter Gravity

LifeStraw Advanced Water Filter Gravity

All standard sized under counter RO systems are compatible with high performance replacement filters. The hollow fiber Membrane has a small size. Removes 99% of the organisms and 99% of the plastic. Carbon fiber capsule reduces lead, other heavy metals, chlorine and organic chemical matter. The US EPA has drinking water standards. Exceeds the standard for reduction of lead and other heavy metals. 2, 000 liters/500 gallons and 100 liters/26.4 gallons are the lifetimes. Every Life Straw product purchased, a school child in need will receive safe drinking water for the entire school year.

Brand: Lifestraw

👤If you want something that filters Viruses and not heavy metals, you should get the Mission. If you want something that protects you from heavy metals. The ball is in your court. I'll return this immediately. I'm not going to buy a mission that doesn't filter heavy metals. Not a single person reviews this product. The social proof must have been purchased from fiver. From people who purify the water at airports, churches, schools and the like. This will work if you are using airport or church water. If you are outside, make sure you have purification tablets. There is a huge difference between purification and filtration. The pictures and content on this listing make one believe that it is suitable for any water source. That could not be further from the truth. If you plan to use this outdoors, you should use purification tables. I wanted to give some insight on how to use this filter. When hanging it make sure it is the right height for the container you're going to use for the water. The water doesn't go down but goes up because the hose is curved. It was a very frustrating experience. You will end up holding the filter up in the air with one arm and your cup beneath it for about 5 minutes. A huge customerirritant. The river water tastes like a fish. I like ceramic filters that help with taste and filters viruses.

👤After about 30 gallons of clear Northern Minnesota lake water, the filter started to get stuck and had to be flushed for every gallon of water. This took place in 3 days. We were in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and only had to boil the water so it was not a big deal. The other product we used worked just fine. I am not sure if that will scare me or not.

👤The backflushing device is weak. On my first outing, it broke. It does a good job of providing clean water and is well made. If I were to do it over, I would buy a Sawyer mini and use the hydration bladder that I already own. The lifestraw flex has all of the functions of this one.

👤This system is useful for camping or hiking. It's very light and doesn't take up a lot of room. I would pack this for a small group of hikers. I got two quarts of water in 10 minutes, which is a good flow rate. The water bag, plastic hose, and the filter are part of the system. The bag fills easily and it all assembles easily. The filter is a standard LifeStraw inline filter that has a strainer and a charcoal filter. The charcoal filter's lifetime is less than that of the strainer, so if that's a concern it would be wise to have some replacements handy. The inline filter can be used with other things, like water bottles, for filters as well. The bag is lined with plastic to make it waterproof. The bag is tough because of the straps at the top. What is it like in use? If you've never used a system like this before, keep in mind that water is very heavy and the filled water bag is also heavy. You will need a strong place to hang it or a high place to rest it. You or someone else will have tired arms if you don't. You need room below the bag for a water container, filter, and tubing if you want to use it. If you don't have a way of securing the tubing or filter, you'll want someone nearby to make sure the water flows where you want it. Make sure the tubing is securely attached to the bag. You risk a contaminated water leak that will travel down the outside of the tube, over the top of the filter, and potentially into your clean water container if you don't do something about it. Not good. I got a flow rate of two quarts in ten minutes. This is more than adequate. That is a flow rate with clean water. If you're using a cloudy water system, the flow rate will be worse because the filter element will need to be flushed. The water in the bag is not pre-filtered, so anything you can do to pre-filter the water before putting it in the bag will help.

7. Waterdrop Gravity Compatible Filter Gallon

Waterdrop Gravity Compatible Filter Gallon

Ultra Safe Materials The gravity water bag is made of plastic. It is made with a material that is ultra-safe anddurable to ensure you can enjoy clean and safe water all the time. The gravity bag has 1.5 gallons of large capacity, which will keep you hydrated. The freshness should be shared with the crew. The approach to water purification has always been top quality. The materials they source are of the highest standards. To make your shopping secure, their team members vet every piece of the materials to make sure they meet the standards.

Brand: Waterdrop

👤I bought this for a backpacking trip. It's a sturdy bag with a carrying strap and tubing. This was a pleasant surprise. The tubing was perfect for my Sawyer mini. The younger scouts were able to carry a full bladder with the help of the carrying strap. The scouts were able to fill this bladder at the nearby lake and return to camp. They didn't do a good job of keeping the valve at the bottom clean, which is why we used it in shallow water. A great teaching moment is the set up of a gravity filter. You are good to go if you add a Sawyer mini. No leaks. This is now being recommended to all our scout families.

👤The material is sturdy and flexible. I use Sawyer filters, but it does not come with a bit valve. It's like a strap to hang off a tree. Good value at a price point.

👤The bag is large and heavy. Heavier than DromLite. I use the large opening at the top to collect water from the lake and then use it to get to the water bladder. Clean water storage for base camp would also function well. It has a qd connection at the bottom which makes it possible to use it as a source of water.

👤I took this on a backpacking trip to the ocean. It is relatively lightweight and packs down small. If debris gets in there, you'll end up with leaks. When I was trying to carry spare water to camp, the water dribbled out the bottom of the container because I couldn't fully seal the quick connect. It wasn't until I got home that I was able to get the debris out, but now it is working well. Just a warning to be careful where you set this down and/or have some small tools on hand to be able to clear it, just in case.

👤Good value for money so far. I tested it at the sink. The roll top didn't seal when it was filled to 1.5gl line. I got it to seal with "1.25gl" and an extra roll or two. The measure marks are not accurate. I filled the bag with 1 gallon and it was over an inch above the line. The pinch valve allows water to flow. The hose is a little stiff, which may be why it's hard to use. The hose is not very strong. The hose is stiffer than the one in the picture. The outlet has a check valve that you can use to remove the quick-disconnect hose. It didn't leak. The strap has hooks on it. The bag that I got this to replace had a small opening. I had to make at least 2 trips to the water source to get it half full. This new bag will allow me to fill it in shallow water once and have enough to fill my drinking bladder and use at camp with only one trip to the source. When I get more experience, I'll update this review. I used this backpacking and it worked well. I need to use my pot to scoop the water out of the bag. The large opening, handle, and large volume are good. I replaced the hose with a softer one to fix the pinch valve leaking. I used the fitting that came with it.

8. SimPure Portable Purifier Gravity Fed Emergency

Brand: Simpure

👤I was surprised. I thought the water would be bland, but it tasted great. It's better to have water out of a tap. I can't get to the seller in time for my review to be updated. The fter is not working after two uses. I've tried blowing air and drawing air to no avail. It isn't covered with mud or silt. The fibers have just expanded to the point of obstruction, and the seller got in touch to let me know a replacement filter was not a problem. I should have it very soon. Customer service is great.

👤I used it to remove the bladder from the included one as well as sucking the water through the straw. Both worked well. It took about 7 minutes to gravity filter 2.5 liters. It takes a bit of effort to get it through the straw, but once it starts, it's pretty consistent. It would be great if the hose was longer to make it easier to sip from it on the go. The hose is short compared to a camel bladder.

👤I haven't tried the gravity bag yet, but I have some red flags. 1. The product doesn't have the words Waki on it. 2. The same product and images are used by another company. 3. The product seems to be for a bottle of water, but I bought a straw and gravity bag. I fear using this in a real life situation because I don't want it to be a fake.

👤If you have used these before, you know what you are dealing with. If you are already on your camp out and find you have no water, you are up for a surprise. Irepped this thing at home. The flow is so bad that I only got a small sip. If you are camping, this will not provide enough water. You will die. I have spoken with other campers and they all agree. The purification tablets are for sale.

👤I drank out of a lake and a river and there were no problems. Water tasted great and I didn't get sick, what more could you ask for?

👤We had to get one to treat the water at our hunting camp because we saw this on the Wooded Beardsman's YouTube channel. Our camp's water comes out of the ground into a collector, then it overflows into a reservoir, before traveling by pipe into the camp. The water should be pure, but you never know if something has died in the water source or in the collector. We hang the bag on a nail and let gravity do all the work. I've heard that pressing the bag will help it move faster, but we just let it do its own thing. The bag has a handle that can be slid on and off. The most important thing to remember is to remove the air bubbles from the tube so the water flows well. The air will be removed when the tube is tapped and squeezed. The water is clear and odorless. It's a must for anyone who has time to purify water.

👤I will probably get thirsty fighting zombies, Werewolves and Vampires. It will be nice to have a sip of water every now and then.

👤I have this to take hiking with my kids. I own several filters and this one is cheap, lightweight and tastes good. The tubing included for the straw makes a difference. Definitely recommend.

👤It's better to have it and not need it.

👤It's not easy to flush this device multiple times and then use it manually. I used it on a camping trip and didn't know how much blowing I had to do. Crick water will still taste like Crick water, but you won't get the extra stuff in it.

👤Don't get caught with dirty water. The water straw is always good for drinking with.

👤Keep one in your go bag for when you go outside.

👤I am llevar en un bolso pequeo. Recomendable para aquellos.

👤I haven't used it yet, but it seems great. I bought two. It was amazing. It was very informative. We love it! Can't wait to try it. We bought for emergency situations.

👤Vienen en bolsa cellada y una caja a m me toc con color tipo camuflaje.

Brand: Aquamira

👤A few years ago, I bought this water filter and just had to use it on a hike. I ran out of water at mile 8 and luckily there is a stream that goes down the mountain. I live in Arizona and finding a water source was a blessing. There are signs near the stream that warn you not to drink the water directly out of the stream due to the presence of things you don't want in your body. The product fits perfectly into the hose of my bladder. I drank about a liter of water from the stream and haven't gotten sick since. I forgot to bring any water purification tablets which are necessary as this filter does not remove viruses. The product worked as advertised and got me out of a bad situation. I will be buying more.

👤The item was covered in white dust when it arrived. Returned. The item arrived in a sealed bag, but other parts are missing. Why are you still 5 stars? The person putting the products into their packages is asleep, but the filter works well once there are enough parts around to make it work. Going ultra-ULTRA light is a cool way of making this filter smaller and lighter. Don't use the MOUTH PIECE UNIT. You can drink directly from the filter without the housing. The water tube and pre-filters can be screwed on to the end of the filter. It's easy to drain out some clean water and wash it off if the tip of the filter is contaminated with dirty water, but if that happens, some extra care might be needed to prevent the tip of the filter from being contaminated with dirty water.

👤I've used these filters for 5 years now and it was time to buy again. I bought 3 more because they work well for me. You can put these on any bottle. I'm sure many others. I have Hiked with people who used the Sawyer type squeeze ones and they have run into trouble using them, these have never let me down, they are light weight and easy to use.

👤The filter was tested in several environments with questionable water sources and had no issues. The ability to clean a water source isn't the only measure of a filter's size. The maze of paths is captured by the aquamira filter. I have been using swamps to filter water because of the time I spend outdoors. The life expectancy of the cartridge was something that really bothered me. If you feel that the water source is contaminated, you have the option to boil, distill or treat it with chemicals. It would take a higher pressure to remove a small virus. The filter is nice, compact and gets the job done, but not sure if it is the best choice. There are some nice options for sawyer. Theaquamirafrontierpro is available at www.practicalsurvivor.com.

👤These are light and compact. They can be attached to most standard plastic bottles with a threaded cap, attached as an in line filter to most hydration systems, or used as a straw to drink directly from a water source. Before using any water purification devices, you need to be familiar with water purification. Most of these don't killbacteria and viruses. You will need to use more than one method to treat the water. Know your gear's abilities. This filter is hard to beat, it has the right method of removing the viruses. Extra pre-filters are included to extend the life of the filter.
