Every LifeStraw product purchased, a school child in need will receive safe drinking water for the entire school year. There are materials that are free of BPA.
👤You should get a Sawyer-Mini. I have used both on camping trips. You need steel jaws to suck water. If you use a Sawyer or other filters with pump/squeeze action, you won't have to rip out your filling. You have to lie on the ground, and other filters have a straw if the pouch breaks. You need to watch actual videos of people who use these frequently before voting down this post. Everyone uses a pump or squeeze method of filtration. Lifestraws are a great idea, but it is hard to use.
👤I am sorry to have the first one be so negative but the life straw was a total and utter disappointment. I bought it for my daughter to go to Mexico with strict instructions to not drink anything without the life straw. Had she followed my instructions she would have died of dehydration. We followed the instructions from the video to soak it, but we couldn't get any water to come through it. It was too late to return to Amazon and I did not receive a reply when I contacted Life Straw. Too bad. I was going to have one for each family member to have in an emergency pack. I will not do that after this experience.
👤This thing is serious. I went backpacking on Maine's Bigelow range. I ran out of water when I brought it. Bring a wide mouth bottle and fill it with water. I drank from the most disgusting looking hole on top of a lower peak. I thought it would be safe, but it wasn't. Wrong. It tasted like fresh spring water. Better than a tap. I'm from Maine, and I've tasted plenty of water from the mountain springs. It can be difficult to start. You have to prove it by soaking. Blow into it if it still doesn't work. Everyone should have a bug-out bag in case of a civil war, because the world seems to have gone mad.
👤If you don't clear the water after each use, the water will seize up. I didn't run a gallon through either of the break I had.
👤I dropped it from my mouth to the countertop and it stopped working, which is ridiculous. There was no impact at all. It is dangerous to have a water source out in the woods if it can't take an impact. This bad review is solely about that fact.
👤I've used these in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Works as advertised. The system is safe to use. When we deploy, we use it as a standard procedure to have one in everyone's room. It's called Semper Fi.
👤I drank from a steam. I have become a hippie. I'm in a transformation.
👤We got what we ordered. I've used this product before in Afghanistan, and I'm happy with it.
👤The price was right, so I wanted to get one for a while. The water out of the Lake of Two Mountains tasted good and did not have any ill effects.
We donate a percentage of profits to help protect the wild places they love. They stand behind their products. You won't find a tougher mylar survival anywhere. It is guaranteed. The 6 in 1 waterproof case has a versatile steel tool card, fire starter, compass, wire saw, emergency whistle, multifunctional pliers, and an emergency blanket. One case can be used to meet different needs. The box is 5''X 3.5''X 1.6'' and has a weight of 6.8oz. Whistle has a key ring on one end and is loud. The compass is flexible and has high sensitivity. The saw blades of the wire saw are sharp and smooth, do not hurt the hand, and can cut things quickly. The strike rod can be drawn down the block to light your kindling. The multi-tool is made of steel and includes can opener, knife edge, screwdriver, ruler, cap opener, 4 position wrench, butterfly wrench, saw blade, direction ancillary indication, 2 position wrench, and a key ring holder. The battery of the flashlight is included in the Multifunction Flashlight Pliers. Each of the inside components is well made. The case is shock resistant. The other six components are made from plastic. It is very sturdy and durable. It's a must have for all outdoor enthusiasts, it's necessary when camping, hiking, hunting, biking, climbing, traveling, adventures, survival and in an emergency situation. A must have for them. It's also great for a gift.
👤The case is advertised as waterproof. I assumed it was of a certain quality. The case is cheap. Water definitely gets into the case if it is waterproof. It isn't sealed. The compass feels like I could crush it in my hand. I have four of the same tool card from things like this. There is a The multitool functions. It has a good saw, a good light, and a good plyer design, but it has a knife with a blade that's too long. I pulled the saw out of the bag after my girlfriend asked what it was. There was never going to be any sawing done with it. The metal clips holding the saw were not tight enough. The whistle has a small compartment and a key. It makes noise. The best thing in this pack... The firestarter seems like your basic cheap set. I didn't try the emergency blanket. Even though the belt loop is only 1 1/2 inch wide, I wondered if it was as cheap as others I have seen or tried to use, so I gave it a tug and laughed as the threads easily came loose. It was terrible.
👤This is not good. I expected to be able to use the utensils in a pinch, but I didn't expect the highest quality. The multi-tool action is so stiff that I need to use an extra tool to pry the instruments out. It's difficult to use them once they're out because of the poor handle. The metal card with the can-opener is so sharp that it is impossible to hold in a bare hand and apply any degree of pressure without injury. The emergency whistle is a waste of time. I think the compass is the best component because it is very close to the truth when on a flat level surface. I have not tried using the saw. I wouldn't buy this again or recommend it.
👤It's good to have a survival kit in your home. The zombies will come, never know when. It's necessary when camping, hiking, hunting, biking, climbing, traveling, adventures, survival and in an emergency situation. It's also great for a gift.
👤Firestarter, compass, blanket, saw, and carrying case were all better than I was expecting. The rubber o-right seal on the clips of the carrying case would probably keep things dry in the event of a complete submersion. The can opener, saw, and knife edges are meant to be used as tools, and the steel card multi tool is too small to be used as a wrench. The multi-tool pliers are sturdy enough for occasional use, but feel a little cheap. The flashlight was bright. Whistle is made of plastic and has a small compartment. This is a good deal. It's worth the weight to carry here. I added the following items which are easy to fit into the included case: Iodine water tablets for up to 25 quarts, 2nd mylar blanket, 10 ft 550 paracord, fire tinder in waterproof bag, steri-strips, and bandages. This will go into my day-hike pack with a cell phone charging device.
The components were included. Prepara Evak Fresh Saver Airless Canister has a black handle. Laundry detergent dispensers are used for laundry scent boosters, laundry detergent powder, carpet freshener powder, sea salt, rice and other small solid grain. Save the space is easy to install on any wall in your bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, or other place. Premium plastic is used in their wall mounted laundry scent beads dispensers. Clean the wall and make sure the area is dry. Put the container on the sticker by squeezing out the air inside the sticker, and then sticking the sticker to the wall. The area of high Humidity is not advisable. It's not suitable for any liquid form of laundry supplies. Please don't shake the dispensers or compress the powder if you want to distribute laundry detergent smoothly. It's not suitable for any liquid form of laundry supplies. Please don't shake the dispensers or compress the powder if you want to distribute laundry detergent smoothly.
👤If you are using it for the laundry room, this item is only good for rice or scent beads. It leaked everywhere when I tried to put detergent in it.
👤This is for my laundry room. I put oxyclean and downy in a container.
👤I bought this on the clock app. The box says it should have 2 cups, but there is only one. Oh well. There is no other way to mount it. It is not going to stay if you have anything else. I used the wall anchor kit I already had to drill two holes in the plastic part. It should come with a better wall mount. I put the Oxyclean in and it goes over to the other side because of a 1mm gap under the divider. I am trying to close the gap with some glue. I don't understand why they have it for something that specifies it's for powder. I will update in a bit.
👤It works best on heavier grains, like rice and dried beans.
👤This is something that I love. You would want to mount it on something other than the wall if you ever plan on moving it. If you ever moved it, you would have to buy a new unit since the sticky pad is what holds it on. I absolutely love this! I have an oxi clean and it works perfectly.
👤I use it for my laundry beads.
👤I have a pond with two fish, and I was tired of digging my hand into the bin to feed them. I use small sinking pallet on one side and larger floating pellets on the other side. I don't have to wash my hands after I get the amount I need. This is the best thing to do for this purpose.
We have a guarantee that they stand behind all their products. Their goal is to provide high quality everyday useful products at affordable prices. If you're dissatisfied with them, simply contact them and they'll give you your money back. It is guaranteed. Sweden is the country of origin. The package dimensions are 17 L X 9.6 W X 6.4 H. The item package weight is 0.35 pounds. The product is a mess kit.
👤I like the look of Trangia's aesthetic. Their products are old world charm and not the flashiest. This tin is not an exception. I use it mostly as an edc tin for my everyday pack. It's not very rugged, but it's solid for my needs. I decided to cook some turkey sausage and eggs over my Trangia spirit burner. I noticed that the tin's irregular shape makes this pot-stove combo workable but not ideal, and that drown it in oil or risk a level of stick worse than titanium, would be better. The Imusa Egg Pan is a perfect match for the Trangia spirit burner. I think I'll stick to boiling water or ramen on day hikes in the future. Cooking should be a secondary function of this tin. It's still fun to try.
👤I believe this is for individual meal cooking. I use it for storage. I have a larger mess tin that weighs more than the smallest one, but I also have the smallest one. I believe the handles are spill-proof because they are folded on top. I've seen semi-rigid cases for these that are similar to what's available for the Trangia cook kits, which would keep them from getting all damaged when being hauled around. There are not many similar items on the surplus market. It's kind of expensive, but you are getting new.
👤This is the second time that I have bought this pot. I bought it for a friend who had it walk away. I put the pot with the stove. It fits inside the pot. I made a greeting. It takes 5 1/2 minutes to boil 2 cups of water using only 17mm of fuel and it fits inside the stove perfectly. There is a lot of room for folding knife/forks/spoon.
👤The box was well made. The lid is snug, but not waterproof. The box should be squeezed in the middle and the lid should come off. The handles allow the box to be used for serving food or liquid. It should be able to organize the bits of kit that might get damaged in a bag or pouch. I think it's a neat container, but it might be noisy in the pack.
👤I wanted to make my own survival tin kit. Didn't want to go with an altoids can. I wanted something large enough that I could boil the water if I had to. I realized that it was too big for what I was looking for when I opened it. I don't think a small survival kit will work for me. It's the same size as a lot of my cooking pots. This thing shines as a minimalist/hiker cooking implement. If you are going with a minimalist approach, I think it's perfect that it's just big enough to cook an average can of coup. It's easy to pack because it's light weight and rectangular dimensions. It didn't work out for what I wanted, but that's my fault. I thought I could have paid more attention to the size in the description. It ended up working out great for me, as a cooking pot for minimalist hiking/camping.
The URBAN wallet is a very small package and designed to carry the essentials. The mini survival gear box is the perfect size for a small survival kit, fishing kit, medical kit, or just to store your small items in. The Best Glide ASE Mini Survival gear box is made from high quality aluminum. It is extremely durable because of this. The mini gear box has a rubber seal that is firmly inside the lid and makes it resistant to water. The lid to the box is firmly secured by the heavy duty roller clamps on each end. It's a little over 4 ounces. The interior dimensions are small. The measurement is 1 x 5 x 3.5. The exterior dimensions are slightly larger.
👤I own several of these tins. It has been more than two years. I opened the tin today and saw the rubber gasket was degrading and decomposing. It has fallen off in some places. The tin held my fire-starter kit. This tin has not seen a use since it was exposed to weather temperatures inside my Jeep. Considering the high price of adventure tins, this kind of degradation gasket is not acceptable. I thought that the ASE stuff was better than the other competitors. I can't trust these little boxes if they don't have a seal. If I could do it again, I would recommend using a do it yourself gasket. The larger size ASE boxes don't have this problem, their gaskets are a different material. Don't buy this garbage, it's not a good investment.
👤Over the years, I have bought two of these. My first purchase was made of light aluminum. It is made from aluminum. The gasket on the lid is different. My original has a soft plastic gasket. It works well and has held up. The most recent version of However has an applied gasket made out of some extruded mess with the consistency,Durability, andFunctionality of dried out tooth paste. I removed the box from the packaging and as of this moment there is no more gasket. It's disappointing to say the least.
👤The altoids mini tin is only about two or three times what you can put in. Is it worth anything? I bought a couple at that price and it seems like it was worth it to me. A mini-FAK is a minor first aid kit that includes an e-blanket, bandages, pads, tape, balms, sanitizer, razor, head lamp, some cordage, folding water bag and treatment tablets, sail needle and thread, etc. You know, the usual suspects. In two 3.5x5x 1.5" boxes, tucked in your cargo pants pocket, sling pack, fanny pack, chest rig, or car kit, you have: We have a mini Headlamp, pinch light, tea light, canvas, sail needle & thread, denim patches, Cargo Tape, compass, button in with the possibles, and a bandana that is always in my hip pocket for cotton. I'm not saying you will be loving it on the contents of these boxes, but you can survive an overnight lost in the woods. "Survival is Simple - Just Don't Die" is a saying.
👤It's hard to find a sealable metal tin with a gasket. This is good enough. The gasket has held up well after a couple months of use, no sign it will fail soon. I've had it submerged without any water getting in, but I don't think the seal will hold if you take it down more than a couple inches. The clasps are weak. They are anchored to a thin tin. When closing it up, I have to bend them a bit. I wish the clasps were stronger for the price. Its definitely the best I've found at this price.
👤The Adventurer Mini Gear Box is Poorly Made, Nothing like its earlier models from the early days, now thin cheap aluminum about half as thick. The rollers don't stay centered on the arm because the latches are loose. The seals don't line up. The seals used to be real stamped rubber, but now it's just rubber poured into the crack of the lid, which makes for an even fit and leak.
The Variety Pack of StarKist Tuna is great to have handy for when hunger strikes, as it has four delicious flavors in pouches that are easy to store, and it is also great for when you are on the go, at the office or at home. Nishiki is the brand people look to when they want a good rice for cooking. Nishiki is the most popular rice brand today. Nishiki is the number one choice according to experts. If you have leftover rice, wrap it in saran and refrigerating it until you can eat it again. Adding water to the rice will make it fluff up.
👤I was ignorant to the qualities of rice because I am an American. Rice was something that was quick and filling, and it was something that I ate when my mother worked. I married a Japanese woman and learned that they are very particular about their rice. I have read about it and it would seem as if rice is a big deal. I wanted to be able to purchase a suitable brand of rice without getting killed at the Japanese supermarket, having been thoroughly schooled on the importance of quality rice. Rice was going for $50 plus if it was Genmai. I decided to see what Amazon-sama could do for me, and it popped up with decent reviews. I bought the small bag to see if it was worthy of the suihanki and it was given a nod of approval. This holds us down in between our visits to Japan when we may get a 5 pound bag of her preferred brand from there, but this works to the point that I have been given the okay to get the large bag.
👤I kept the five bags of Nishiki rice in a dry and sealed plastic rice tank. The last one is full of rice bugs and I will open it today. The bag of rice is what I can only throw.
👤This is one of the best rice I have ever eaten. I make it with a regular slow cooker a lot, and the rice always turns out well. I use it to make sushi rolls or as a side dish. I made fried rice with leftover and it turned out nice. The price is reasonable compared to other markets. I'll order it from Amazon.
👤You would think from the packaging that you're buying imported rice. That is just marketing. Cal Rose rice is grown in California. If you like medium grain rice, then you should go for it. Don't let marketing hype fool you. Cal Rose short grain rice is my preference for most of my cooking needs. It goes by many names. Recommended but not my preference.
👤The 5lb bags via Amazon are the best price I can find anywhere, and even at my local Japanese supermarket chain on the Big Island of Hawaii, the larger sizes are more expensive per pound. Our family business in Japan is a wholesale produce business, but we get product samples from distributors of anything and everything, and my wife thinks the Nishiki brand is the best value outside of Japan. The best way to prepare rice is to soak it in cold water twice. At each rinse, wish the rice around. Most of the starch is removed. The instructions for cooking are on the package. A basic rice cooker is needed.
👤We buy Nishiki sushi rice in 32 ounce packages. It's been a family favorite for a long time. We thought we'd try this bag for added value. The rice is small and not as large as the Nishiki sushi rice in the 32 ounce packages. This is a good small grain rice. Premium grade "sushi" rice is required if you want to make sushi.
40 pack silver metal rectangular empty hinged tins boxes are lightweight and easy to carry. The razor blade is made from a high quality steel. (Super Sharp) The rib is plated steel. The plastic handle is medium impact. The military specification is #MIL-R-365408.
👤I can't stop buying them. I find more and more places to stick these so they are close when I need one. I keep these in my purse, car, camper, drawer, bathroom cabinet, kitchen drawer, garage, bedside table, and even the front door of my house. They work well for cutting tags. These come in handy when you need them. I shaved a marshmallows roasting stick with them. They are in every survival kit and first aid kit I have. I bought 10 about 8 months ago and another 10 recently in a different color. I use green in the house. If you set it down, it will be easier to see outdoors. I give these to my grown sons because they love them. I won't feel bad tossing it since it only cost me $1.50 and I haven't had one wear out yet.
👤A pack of foldable razor blades. The blades are fixed and can't be replaced, but at a cost of about $1.50 each, I won't begrudge them a break. I have used these in many roles, from last ditch cutting tool in my survival bags to box opening around the house. I keep one in my truck for random cutting tasks that come up, and I have one in my desk drawer. The box razor sharp blade has no problems going through paper, card board, packing material, clothing, para cord, or zip ties. Don't expect heavy long term use for years to come, but as a light weight, convenient cutting tool, hard to beat. There is no locking mechanism to hold the blade open, which is the biggest draw back about the tool. With the blade as sharp as it is, care must be taken when cutting so it doesn't get caught and fold back on your hand, because it could very easily cut deep if not careful.
👤I keep these blades as utility blades and they are the most sharp blade I have ever used. It glides through meat after being used to process a turkey. Paper, card stock, 550 cord, string, tape, fabric passes through easily. I use one to pick at my fingernails and it holds it's edge very well. They are a simple lock and you must be very careful that it doesn't close on your hand.
👤If you are not negligent with them, they are durable enough for regular use. The razor blades are very sharp. I keep a back up blade in my cache belt. I thought I would never need a backup blade. You will understand if you work on a single project with a group of people that requires one or more blades. As far as the product goes, they have performed as expected or better.
👤This is a folding razor blade. These are made in the US. The US military orders a lot of these. It's very light duty, but very sharp in an emergency kit. Good coupon cutter too! Good for women to have their purse with them. I ordered a group of ten and each group of five had their own carrying case. A nice touch!
The gold standard production. Your health and safety are very important to them. Artemisinin is manufactured in the USA in a fully compliant facility with adherence to good manufacturing policies and under the most stringent quality control. You can be sure that you get the best value for your money. All natural and certified to be free of bothGluten-Free and All Natural. It's perfect for food storage, emergencies, survival, and everyday use. A 30 year shelf life is possible.
👤I order these at least twice a month. Everything was fine through November. The strawberries in particular had mold growing on them, as the product had a well expired date after that. The pineapple was very heavy. I don't know what happened, but I won't buy them anymore.
👤I received a can of pineapple. The pieces are barely larger than crushed pineapple. The lid fell halfway down when I opened the can. If I'm not careful, I could break a tooth on one of the pieces. I think I'll rehydrate it with pineapple juice.
👤There is a piece of the emergency food storage plan. Keep a variety and put up enough for the people you're willing to feed. Everyone else should get their own food. People like me won't care about you.
👤I opened it and it had a lot of phlegm. The can wasn't even full. Put it in a container. A 1/2 GALLON MASON JAR DIDN't fill it all. The Jar. It looks like CORN, not PINEAPPLE. I was surprised that the # 10 can be full. Did not care for the power that was in the can.
👤These are very good. It says on the tin that it lasts 30 years in storage, but this tin only lasted 20 days as I couldn't stop eating it. It is a great snack. It helps with sweet cravings as I eat these instead of candy or chocolate. I ate it with a ton of dried pineapple. You can also rehydrate it. We used to buy the small packs of 6 at the supermarket for just $7 and had 1/2 cup of pineapples in them. This is a great value because it has 20x the amount in the tin.
👤The pineapple was mistreated in shipping and storage and turned into powder, making it look half full. It must have been thrown around and moved around before I saw it. It won't be enjoyable to eat that way. It is not worth the money.
👤This is the most favorite of all the freeze dried fruits I have tried. If you compare canned pineapple from Walmart to other freeze dried fruit with this, you will get more for your money, but with this, you get more for your money. I will buy more when this is gone.
👤It was a disappointment. The largest pieces were not very large. The can had a lot of dust on it. Most of the pieces were small and had to be sieved. Will not order.

There are 1 Multi-Functional Mini Knife and Spear Point, 1 Micro Finger Drill, 3 Sewing Needles, 2 Small Fishing Hooks, 2 Medium Fishing Hooks, 2 Double finishing Hooks, 1 Mini Button, and 2 Mini Gig.
👤This is your survival kit when you need it the most. Everything came in a nice package. The blade is not sharp, that is a critical issue. I take a star off because of this. Imagine if you depended on it and it couldn't cut what you needed. I can't even cut a business card. I can sharpen it myself, but it's not good in a survival situation. A soft clear plastic bag at a size just a little bit bigger than the card itselt is another small detail I would suggest. It is not easy to put it in your wallet because of the sharp points from the other tools. Another half star off. The maker can just have a minor improvement and it will be a 5 star.
👤I want to make it clear that I am not a survival expert by any stretch of the imagination, as some probably are that have commented here. I am sure Dave and Creek would consider me a novice. Clint Eastwood said in his movie, "A man has to know his limitations, and I do, and I try not to wander outside of that envelope, and one must accept and recognize this little limitation cards as well." I bought this with the survival guide, which is really good. I wouldn't expect the knife or arrowhead to be sharp since it's stamped out of STAINLESS, and it really isn't, which is really no big deal. I used a diamond 360 and 600 grit sharpener tosharpen it up. I have a CRKT Bita that is the same size. It would work well for lite work and skinning small animals. I will wrap the handle with something. The needles are sharp and the fish hooks are easy to use. I haven't used anything yet. The single side magnet sheet won't hold the items on well after they're removed. I went to a hobby/craft place and picked up a sheet of magnet and sandwich the card between the two. The card is a nice idea. This is not a substitute for a well equipped survival kit and I doubt it was ever intended to be. If you are caught away from your main source kit you will have a cutting edge and some food gathering equipment. If I had nothing to face a survival situation, I would be happy with this card. It only covers one or two of the ten C's for survival, so it's not an end-all-be-all. The inventor said he spent two years on the project. To make a stamp that will knock these out is not cheap. I can't say for certain, but I can say that China is pretty decent reverse engineers and mass replicators, and they are cheaper than American made. You are supporting American manufacturing with this card. I don't know if $20 is too much for it, but it wasn't for me and I respect the idea and execution.
👤The tools are the same as in the video. The company provides two magnetic cards so that the tools are more secure. See the photo. There is a The baggy that the product arrives in is weak and too strong. The baggy ripped along the seam was the second or third time I tugged on the tight zip to open it. I wish thaipper were less strong.
The National Organic Program (NOP) administers the national organic standards under a federal regulation created by the USDA. 40 lbs of product is contained in the 6-Gallon Re-Cycle BPA Free Bucket. The product came in contact with the bucket. Oxygen Absorbers and airtight gasket are used to create a nitrogen atmosphere. Aerobic Pathogens and Spoilage Organisms are prone to growth. The rice should be washed thoroughly with water. Combine 2 cups of water with 1 cup of rice. Salt, olive oil, or butter is desired. The water and rice should be boiled. Once boiling, reduce the heat to a low simmer. Leave and cook for 45 minutes. At the end of the cook time, check if the rice is tender. Continue cooking if it is still hard, add a little more water if necessary. If the rice is not done by 10 minutes, you should check it every 10 minutes. Let rice stand for 10 to 15 minutes after it is removed from the heat. Before serving, fluff with a fork.
👤The rice is good. Cooks well in my cooker. My family eats a lot of rice so buying bulk will be the same for me. The container is very hard to open.
👤Ignore reviews on price. The storage system has oxygen absorbers that last a decade. The extra cost is associated with this. If you want a standard bag of rice without long-term storage capabilities, you can find it for $20 - $40USD dollars, as other reviews have stated. The rice's shelf life can be extended from 370 days to 10 years with oxygen absorbers inside.
👤White rice is available at every supermarket. 40 lbs will cost you about $20
Excellent gift for your friends, kids or anyone in your life. There are survival tips inside for you and your family. 25,600 total calories per day. It's easy to prepare. Just add some water. A 25 year shelf life is possible.
👤I feel like what you get is over priced. I have vacuumed more than this contains for a quarter of the price. Don't be lazy. There is not a lot of food in this box.
👤Quite disappointed. Fettuccine and milk sub were good. I could not stomach anything else. It was bad tasting food for most of the time. Everything is compromised of pasta and soup. Extreme rip-off! The company is taking advantage of people. Go clear. Don't buy! You can get a bunch of pasta and soup at Walmart. You can get the same thing at Walmart for a fraction of the cost. There is a I would slap the taste out of their mouths if they were in front of me. Thank you.
👤The survival kit has a good value. I can't review the food because I never plan on eating anything unless I have to. The mile, bananas, and everything else will all be gone in 25 years. I don't need milk or bananas to survive, so why not replace them with something that will last 25 years? One of my pouches had a small gash. I shook the bag and found a small amount of powder. Most of this stuff requires water to be boiled. In a survival situation, you can just add water and shovel it down. All the food and the pouches would need at least 6.5 gallons of water. That's a lot of water. I live in Minnesota, so if a tornado or snow hit, I'd have to eat emergency food. I keep the food in my storage room in the basement with no windows, in either case. I can mix the food with the water from my water heating system in case of an emergency.
👤If you were thinking that this bucket contains ready-to- eat food for two weeks, it doesn't. It requires a large cooking vessel, a heat source for cooking, and a good amount of water. You will need the following to use this kit as directed. A heat source that can cook the good for hours. A large cooking pot with six gallons of water for cooking the food in this kit. It's on me for not reading through the description and product photos more before ordering, but I'd like to point something out in case you also didn't. It's not obvious in the description that it's not easy to split packets into smaller, individual portions because some of the ingredients are clumped together until you cook them. Even though it's marketed for a single person, you'd end up making meals that include eight serving of soup or rice. My biggest issue with the family-sized packets is that they don't need to be refrigerated, but there will be a lot of leftover food, so you'd want to keep it cold. I live in southern Arizona where it's not cold enough to keep food out of the environment, so I'd either need a working refrigerator or just eat a packet of food a day. Milk and banana chips can be split into individual portions, and they don't require cooking. I've made a soup and eaten some chips. The soup will fill you up and keep you alive, but it isn't very good and doesn't have any chicken flavor. It tastes so bland because it already has a bit of salt in it. The smell was great, but the taste wasn't right. I would be happy to have it in an emergency. Assuming that I had enough fuel to boil nearly three quarts of water and then cook it for 25 minutes, and that I could safely store all of the leftovers. The banana chips are pretty good. I will never be able to verify the claim of a 25-year storage life for this bucket of food. I'm not going to be digging this out of the pantry for another round of chicken soup if I'm still alive at that point. I probably won't be updating my review if I need it sooner. The vegetable soup was a good indicator and I would say that the food is filling if not particularly good. I was hoping this would be tailored for me with smaller serving sizes given the product name, because I don't like the large packet sizes. I'm glad that I could try it, but I won't be stocking up on it.
