1. Augason Farms Southwest Chili 1 65

Augason Farms Southwest Chili 1 65

A 30 year shelf life is possible. It is certified as being free of the harmful effects of the gluten-free diet. It's perfect for food storage, emergencies, survival, and everyday use. A 10 year shelf life is possible.

Brand: Augason Farms

👤I decided to try this chili for dinner a few nights ago because I have a big family. I was going to make six cups of chili. I added six cups of the chili mix after boiling seven cups of water. It quickly turned into a thick mix after being rehydrated. I had to add at least 3 cups more water to make it thin enough to not burn at the bottom. I noticed the big mylar bag in the can, which held all the seasoning and flavoring, though that wasn't clear in the instructions. I tried it again after the beans were rehydrated. The flavor is bland. I'd be happy to eat it in an emergency situation, but I added more seasoning, diced tomatoes and tomato sauce to make it better. The mix is so thick that it needs more water than was called for. We still have a big pot of chili after everyone has had a bowl. Something about the seasoning mix is sticky. It was in the pot, spoon and inside of my mouth. I added more tomato products and it stopped being a problem.

👤I received this today. I like to eat chili in the fall and winter. I decided to try it out. It is not all that great, but it is right out of the package. It did not have any flavor or taste like chili. Where is the meat, the tomatoes and the hot spices? I realized after I thought about it. This is a good base to make chili from. Everyone has a different taste for chili. Some like it hot and some don't. There are different types of meat that people use. This is a great base to start your own chili. Add whatever you want in your chili. This product can be used by anyone. Some of you will like it in the can and some of you will not. I need some meat in my chili. I like my chili to be a little more spicy so it will clear my nose when I'm outside. My chili has tomatoes and tomato sauce in it. I was going to give this 2 or 3 stars, but after a lot of thought I have decided on a 4 star rating. I gave it a rating because I think it has potential. I'm not one of the people who will like it the way it is. I will use this as a base for my next batches and then update this review. If you like this, then just bring the water you need. Hikers like to cook quickly and easily. If you need more in your chili, just prepare it before you go hiking. Put it in a bag. It should last longer in your pack if you cook it already. The home pepper is more likely to use this product than the backpacker. It can be done. Augason makes a lot of other products, like onions, tomatoes, meats, and cheese. If you want to have this chili as a meal, you have to carry a certain amount.

2. Mountain High Organics Certified Organic

Let rice stand for 10 to 15 minutes after it is removed from the heat. Before serving, fluff with a fork.

Brand: Mountain High Organics

👤The rice is good. Cooks well in my cooker. My family eats a lot of rice so buying bulk will be the same for me. The container is very hard to open.

👤Ignore reviews on price. The storage system has oxygen absorbers that last a decade. The extra cost is associated with this. If you want a standard bag of rice without long-term storage capabilities, you can find it for $20 - $40USD dollars, as other reviews have stated. The rice's shelf life can be extended from 370 days to 10 years with oxygen absorbers inside.

👤White rice is available at every supermarket. 40 lbs will cost you about $20

Brand: The Honest Kitchen

👤We had our two dogs on this food for a long time. Both of them had health issues while on it. One lost their muscle mass and function in their back legs. The other had seizures. The vet could not figure out what was causing the symptoms. My wife's sister also had a dog that would seize on this food. The vets put the animals on anti-seizure drugs which helped control their seizures. We wondered what the common thread was. I decided to give them another quality food after taking them off the Honest Kitchen food. My wife's sister made the same decision. After a couple months, the dog that was losing funtion in his back legs began to recover, so we decided to take our other dog off of the anti-seizure medication. No more seizures, the same result. My wife's sister's dog made a full recovery after removing the food from their diet. We have held some of this food back to send off for lab testing as we suspect it contains ingredients that resulted in these horrible medical issues on these three Schnauzers. I hope others read this and can relate to the issues they are having with their dogs.

👤Many positive reviews, but this is what happened to me. My dog was eating this turkey and I would change it from time to time. He refused to eat the new box of Turkey after he opened it. Honest Kitchen customer service does not exist, they wouldn't do anything at all, and they wouldn't check into my issue. Absolutely no customer service. My dog is a Rhodesian Ridgeback. I am worried that something is wrong with the ingredients. Honest Kitchen could be careless about my dog or me as a customer. There are others who have had issues. They treated me poorly and became quiet beligerant to my concerns. Don't buy this food. There are lots of great brands.

👤There is a photograph of the ingredients list, but not the last list of ingredients. This listing has more than one ingredient list, and this food Additive is not disclosed until the very last ingredient list. A toxic build-up of selenite in dogs leads to muscle weakness and pulmonary edema, among other things. The smaller the dog, the quicker it builds. Be aware.

👤The food came highly recommended. I bought a box of the product and we tried it out. The dogs liked it and their systems were tolerant of it. We were using it as a mix-in with Blue Buffalo and my intent was to transition them over 100 percent. We bought a second box to tide us over until our monthly box came, which would have 2 10-lb boxes in it. We finished the second box and everything was great. The youngest dog in the house had a bad day after we opened the 10 pound box. I didn't immediately connect the dots because dogs can get diarrhea from lots of sources. Things returned to normal after we took her off the food. I became suspicious of the food after our oldest dog began vomiting and having scurvy two days later. The box says the name has changed but still tastes great. Did the dog food change? Do they have a quality control issue? We had to put both dogs on a prescription diet to try and clear up their issues after I stopped feeding it. I have switched dog foods a few times over the years and we have never experienced a serious issue like this.

4. Augason Farms Country Instant Nonfat

Augason Farms Country Instant Nonfat

Hoosier Hill Farm is located in northeast Indiana. They are proud of their heritage and good old fashioned values, and their products and ingredients are guaranteed fresh. Makes 2.5 gallons. It is certified as being free of thegluten A 20 year shelf life is possible.

Brand: Augason Farms

👤Auguson Farms has nonfat powdered instant milk. Class C took the longest of all products, taking roughly 150 spoon-stirs. The product left "legs" on the side of the glass even then. It should not be mixed with hot water as it will clump and separate. The flavor is sour and bitter. I found it unpleasant, but one of my friends thought it was ok. Not recommended. In the photo is Emergency Essentials, Auguson Farms and Country Fresh. MilkMan Results of my powdered milk taste test comparison, how I tested, and a side by side comparison with myself and a couple friends of some different powdered milks The same amount of milk powder was mixed into the same amount of water. The samples were stirred until they dissolved. I didn't use hot water because some products don't fit in it. My intention is to use milk powder per serving, so products were allowed to rest only a minute before sampling. They were compared with actual non-fat milk. The goal of this test was to reveal comparative defects, and in general all products will taste better when allowed to rest overnight and fully chilled. I've tried: Augason farms, Country Cream, Country Fresh, Emergency Essentials, MilkMan, and Organic Valley. They are classified into three categories: A. emergency essentials, A. emergency essentials and A. emergency essentials. This tastes like real milk. It has a slightly sour, burnt taste when mixed into hot water, tea, or coffee, but it does mix easily into hot water, and it is enjoyable. This is the best powdered milk. B. MilkMan. Although it is the best low-fat powdered milk product, it has a slightly off-putting "protein" flavor. You know what I mean. It mixes easily into water. It is expensive as well. The slightly richer body was not worth the money. Everything else. All other products are bad, including sour, bilious flavors, clumping, foaming, and inability to mix directly with hot water. The flavor of Organic Valley is Class B, but its preparation, clumping, and cost put it in Class C. It is a good review, but it is out of date since there have been some company mergers and name changes.

👤I don't want to open this powdered milk store unless there is an end of the world scenario, mad cow disease kills off the bovine population and milk becomes a trade-able commodity.

👤I was surprised by the quality of this milk. It tastes better than I anticipated and has a creamy texture. You have to mix it right to make it behave in hot liquids. For my first cup of coffee, I put a small scoop of powdered milk in a mug and poured hot coffee over the top. It was a big mistake. I had a sludgy mess that didn't taste very good after the milk was separated. For my second cup, I put the milk powder in the mug, added a splash of room-temperature water, and mixed until the milk dissolved. The milk blended like a dream when I poured my coffee. The taste and texture of the first and second cups were completely different. Pre-blend this milk in room-temperature water and it will act the way you want it to. Will buy again when I use this up. I'd be happy if Augason farms made a powdered nut or coconut milk.

5. Mother Earth Products Dehydrated Cooking

Mother Earth Products Dehydrated Cooking

There are no genetically modified foods and there are no genetically modified foods and there are no genetically modified foods and there are no genetically modified foods and there are no genetically modified foods and there are no genetically modified foods and there are no genetically modified foods and there are no genetically modified foods and there are Can store up to 25 years. You can use the bag to snack out of. A quart in a jar is a great source of vitamins and minerals. They have other great products such as dried veggies, freeze dried fruits and veggies, and true dehydrated beans.

Brand: Mother Earth Products

👤It was very misleading. It is actually inaccurate. It is in a quart jar, but only 11 ounces. The claim that you get.46 cents per ounce is a lie. It's 1.34 ounces. Not good practice in business. From now on, I will purchase somewhere else.

👤If it were possible, I would give it zero stars. Terrible taste and consistency. Even though there was a price increase, should've stuck with the brand we've ordered before. The product description says one full quart in a jar. The jar held 11 ounces. I think a quart is still 32 ounces. The product was supposed to make a quart once re-hydrated. I am partly to blame for the misunderstanding because if I had clicked on the item photo, I would've seen the 11oz jar label. This product costs more than a good steak so I will not be ordering it again.

👤We can't eat a whole can of beans, but I can make a small amount. I mix it with boiling water, not the proportions on the label. I add bacon fat or butter to it. It was delicious!

👤It's nice but I'm going back to my normal brand. Why? When you read the ad, you think of a lot of product, but in reality, I felt ripped off. The brands I've bought were heavier.

👤There is a description of refried beans. Product sent is plain pinto beans. The pinto beans take 15 minutes to reconstitute. It's not good for backpacking.

👤They are good for dehydrated food. Can they be as good as canned beans? No. They do the trick. Especially when you're outdoors. They are cold soaked and rehydrated in a matter of minutes. I found that following the directions made them soupy. I don't add as much water.

👤Santa Fe used to be in the market in my area. These are easy to cook and have a fast absorbancy of water. They are nice and plain, but have a creamy pinto texture. They're pretty heavenly if you add a little seasoning. They beat any can of beans.

👤I didn't want to eat refried beans on the trail, so I dehydrate a lot of my own food. They made a great dinner on top of tortillas. The water was boiled and then rehydrated in a freezer bag.

6. Augason Farms Brown Sugar Lbs

Augason Farms Brown Sugar Lbs

The age range describes all life stages. All natural and certified to be free of bothGluten-Free and All Natural. It's perfect for food storage, emergencies, survival, and everyday use. A 30 year shelf life is possible.

Brand: Augason Farms

👤The oxygen absorber in the can made me give this a 4 instead of a 5. I realize that removing oxygen is important when storing food. If you use oxygen absorbers, the sugar will get really hard. This will be the case with brown sugar. You can hear the clumps when you take it out of the box. There are many articles on how to package different foods. I know of only one dry good, sugar, and it's not supposed to use oxygen absorbers. If it extends the shelf life for awhile longer, I understand, but LDS said that putting oxygen absorbers in Brown sugar can cause botulism. I'm not sure if using them with sugar is recommended. It wasn't that it can grow the anaerobicbacteria, but that was the consensus after doing more research. botulism can grow without oxygen because brown sugar has molasses in it. I'm concerned and I would really appreciate an answer from Augason Farms. Maybe they test the contents of the package. I think experts on long term food storage would know, but I have read 15 articles that say to never store it this way. What thoughts are there?

👤I love having a few of these on hand. When they are on sale, I usually buy them at a time of 2 or 3. I keep at least 4 large cans in my inventory because I always run out of a recipe or I forget to pick up brown sugar at the store. The sugar is soft when I open the can. I spoon the brown sugar into jars and add oxygen absorbers to avoid the hard sugar problem. It's easier to store in my actual pantry. The shelf life is also extended. The shelf-life is about a year after opening. Is it expensive? This is emergency stock. If I forget to pick up something at the store, I use/rotate my stock.

👤There is sugar in a can. The bugs are kept out. It helps to keep it for later. I would have a sweeter drink if I had it against hard times. I wanted to make sure I had food on hand in case, so I have been through rough times. It feels pretty full. I haven't opened the can. I'll be glad I have it when I need to. I use it to make a version of sweet-n-sour sauce, bbq sauce, in cookies, brownies, molasses cookies, gingerbread, and even to sweeten tea if there's nothing else to use. I make a version of brown bread with it. I have it to keep on hand.

👤I have bought other food from this company, mostly breads, but I have not opened this one yet, because I ordered 4 different cans at the same price, but I am not sure if I will open it. The can is seal. You have to open it. Good tasting foods are made from augason farms.

👤I do a lot of baking during the holidays and this came in handy. It worked perfectly for me and was fresh. I will be purchasing again as part of my disaster pantry supplies.

7. Augason Farms Fettuccine Alfredo Super

Augason Farms Fettuccine Alfredo Super

It's simple and easy to cook Iberia Rice & Black beans. There are four individually sealed food pouches. 4 Servings per pouch and 16 total serving 1,200 calories per pouch You can only prepare what you need when you need it. A 25 year shelf life is possible.

Brand: Augason Farms

👤I hope a disaster doesn't require me to use it. It seems that nut jobs are destroying us all.

👤Family likes this. It has a salty taste so if you like it, get this. It's easy to ignore even if you don't. You can serve it a few times in a week if you make it easy to prepare. We solve two challenges at the same time because we incorporate some of our leftover side dishes. We like to add TVP, it blends nicely and gives some added bulk.

👤I tried it and it tasted good.

👤The packaging is great and the taste is ok. It tastes nothing like Alfredo. Would not buy again.

👤I added fresh herbs and chicken and it tasted great. I have purchased everything on the auguson farms menu, but have yet to receive a dented can.

8. Augason Farms Freeze Dried Peas

Augason Farms Freeze Dried Peas

A shelf life of up to 4 years. All natural and certified to be free of bothGluten-Free and All Natural. It's perfect for food storage, emergencies, survival, and everyday use. A 30 year shelf life is possible.

Brand: Augason Farms

👤I can freeze peas, but I can't dry them. The taste is so good that it's right out of the can. They are usually thrown in ramen soup. They have been used in stew. I could buy a smaller can, but the price is too high. I use them over a year because they don't get destroyed by high humidity. They retain their color, flavor and texture. This is my third purchase of this product.

👤Mountain House is our favorite for prepared meals, but for individual ingredients, we prefer AF. Good quality items, no TVP. They don't use tons of salt or citric acid to fake flavor because they don't want to offend anyone. Sometimes there will be a slight difference in taste and texture. It's the same for freeze dried or normal frozen. It's what happens. It's the cleanest, purest stuff you're going to get with 25 years of shelf life. Don't forget to use the Amazon.com address. It's an Amazon program where if you buy many everyday things from Amazon, they will make a small donation to the charity of your choice. Here is the information: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/chpf/about/

👤The can was only half full. I normally like this brand, but they can't say that over half the can was empty due tosettling. Peas are not like that. I weighed them and found that half the weight and volume was advertised. Be alert.

👤I wanted to like them. I put a cup of them in the water. They didn't get hydrated. There is a bit of a squishy goo inside. I tried the hot water. Half of the food would not stay hydrated. They smell great and taste great. I can add water to peas and they will rehydrate. They are great to cook in soups. I wanted peas to be rehydrated with hot or cold water. If you plan to cook soups or pot roast in boiling water, they should be okay.

👤I have been backpacking for more than 40 years. freeze dried peas were included in almost every one of those trips. These are the first ones that refused to drink water. I cold soaked them. I put them in an insulated container. They were boiled. I tried to cook them. I could only get about 50% to a normal texture. The rest were downright nasty. I picked up freeze dried corn at the same time. Maybe I got a lot of peas. This is more common than I want to deal with according to other reviews. I'll pass on the frozen corn from Augason Farm.

👤I've been buying freeze-dried peas for a long time and they don't taste like peas at all. They are completely tasteless even reconstituted. Don't spend your money on them. The entire can will be thrown in the trash. Oh, ugh.

👤You will eat so much if you make the best mashed Potato's white Gravy. There is a While others fight each other at Walmart, you thought about the future.

👤The sweet pea can be used in a soup or stew. I was very impressed with the product. Airy pea can't tell you the difference between fresh canned or dehydrated. The pea was wonderful.

👤The product is a point of sale. All the silver and blue dye came off the mylar and stuck to everything. It will have to be washed with water before we can see if it comes off the sleeping bags and pads. 0/09

👤My son and his family were the recipients of one of these, as was my wife and daughter. One of these saved my friend from death. He had shot and killed an animal in the mountains and was going to use it to clean it, but when he realized he wouldn't be able to get out of the woods without getting lost, he wrapped himself in a blanket and spent the night. He said he would have died if he hadn't had the blanket. At first light, his friends came after him. Thanks NASA.

👤I just received my Oceas Emergency Blankets and I am blown away by the quality and beauty of the product. The hard-side case has a carabiner clip. I am not keeping my emergency blankets in this case, but I am looking forward to using them. Each of the emergency blankets has a small nylon bag. I keep an emergency blanket in my family's backpack, and these will be perfect. The blankets are large and beautiful, with my silver side and blue side being the same color. I hope I never have a reason to use this blanket in a true emergency, but I will always have it with me, and I will smile whenever I see it in my pack.

👤When I saw that Oceas had mylar emergency blankets, I was excited. I have two other blankets from them. I use them at my son's soccer practices. I knew I had to get a set for my car when I saw the emergency blankets. The TINY is very modern and has blankets in it. It's super sleek. It's a perfect thing to put in your glove compartment. Can't wait to see what other products Oceas comes up with.

👤Two bed spreads are being used on my Twin beds. I have a cat that sleeps on the bed. She used to get fur all over them. Now she doesn't. She mostly sleeps on top on the beds. She avoids a lot of fur.

👤I keep one of these in my pack, I use it between my hammock and underquilt when cooler nights are present. The footprint of e-blankets is larger. I keep my stuff in the bottom of the hammock compression sack and it never fails when I need it. You should have one in winter backpacks. It's lightweight. Takes up no space. It was worth it.

👤Oceas products are fantastic and we own almost a dozen of them. We have emergency blankets in our car for emergencies.

👤It arrived earlier than expected. That alone was impressive. The blue color was ordered. The main case and blanket is very nice. The material is foil like. It's not possible to check the durability yet or if it will keep us warm. It was used to watch daughter's soccer games. It earns 5 stars for now.

10. Zatarains Black Bean Rice Case

Zatarains Black Bean Rice Case

Features long grain white rice and black beans. It can be made in the microwave or on the stove top. Creole dish with Caribbean influence. In less than 30 minutes, you were prepared and on the table. Add meat to a side dish or complete meal.

Brand: Zatarain's

👤My wife and I both have enough left over for lunch and dinner, but only one box makes it possible for us to 800-273-3217 We live far from a grocery store so it's important that it's well organized. $2 for a main course is a great deal. I sometimes add a can of tomato to my stir fry and it makes it even more delicious. Adding an extra cup of water or a can of tomato to it when cooking will make it a bit thicker. It is a bit salty, that's the only negative I can come up with. The more veggies I add, the less salty it tastes. I will buy this again and again.

👤I moved to New Orleans from my home country and the local stores there don't stock this item, probably because it isn't a complete meal in a box. People who want the meal in a box are missing out. I get a 1lb bag of red beans and a Hillshire Farms smoked Sausage, cut the sausage into 1 inch lengths, dump it all in a pot with the required water and seasonings in the box, bring it to a boil, then let it stew for 2 or 3 hours. Put some white rice on a plate and ladle the beans and sausage over it. It was delicious! It's like not cooking at all. I like to layer my beans onto a layer of rice with the meal mix. It's not as good. I get one good meal fresh cooked, then freeze 4 more for later, and those are just as good, and even easier to heat up, because I am a single guy.

👤Good flavor, must cook with your own beans and rice, there are small bits of beans in the packages and if not cooked well, you will be crunching. I used to purchase the red beans and rice, but only used the flavor package, so I didn't expect the broken pieces of beans to be included in the mix; but you get a full box, surprisingly you get several packages. I was surprised that they are large packages. I gave a 3 star for the unexpected pieces of broken beans in the packages, I know what I want, so I will definitely purchase this product again, I will just sift the packages to eliminate.

👤I like this as a base for a group dinner. I cook it in the rice cooker. Walk away from the rice cooker. An hour later... voila! It's easy to make a meal for a group or two people. Two boxes with sausage links for 4 to 6 people and salad and a vegetable side are what I do. It's not a regular meal for us because it can be a little salty with sausage added. It's a great comfort food to eat in the winter.

11. Augason Farms Dehydrated Spinach Flakes

Augason Farms Dehydrated Spinach Flakes

A 7 year shelf life is possible. All natural and certified to be free of bothGluten-Free and All Natural. It's perfect for food storage, emergencies, survival, and everyday use. A 25 year shelf life is possible.

Brand: Augason Farms

👤I love the dehydrated vegetables. They have a great taste. They are fresh when they are added to soups or just simmered in water. I add some fruit smoothie ingredients. I don't have to waste spinach if it goes bad before I can use it. I will buy it again.

👤I expected a small can. These are larger than "flakes" but they are very dry and can easily fall. Extra nutrition into pizza, spaghetti, pasta, and smoothie for a kid that doesn't like veggies other ways was what I needed.

👤I received my third order for the Spinach Flakes, and I love them. I used them in soups yesterday and it turned out great. I drained off the excess water after re-hydrating the spinach flakes. It didn't turn my soup green, but it was awesome. I love the other Augason products. When my grandsons are present, I don't have to worry about them having sugar rushes with the strawberries because they enjoy them.

👤I have 10 different cans of this brand. I have veggies on hand. I no longer have wasted and forgotten vegetables in my fridge. I feed my dogs small amounts of peas, banana chips, and apple chips when I use all 10 cans for people's food. The dogs are very fat and beware!

👤There is a good amount of product inside the can, but it was not opened. I shook the can and it didn't sound like there was too much space inside. I have the nutrition on hand that won't ruin, against the hard times. I invested while I could, just in case, because I wish I had stuff like this on hand when I needed it. There are many ways to use this product. Add to soups, make omelets, grind up fine and add to noodle dough for a nutrition boost, mix into meatloaf, add to cooking meats, add to smoothies, and so on. I'll be happy when I need this stuff.

👤This is a great way to keep the flavor of spinach in your kitchen. It can be added to salads or baked product.

👤Adding dried spinach to a meal is a great way to add nutrition. It's usefulness is up to you. Omelettes, soups, stew, salads are some of the obvious uses. It's best to drink water first. Salad use is an example. If the dish has a lot of liquid, add dried spinach.

👤I know it's freeze dried, but I was surprised how fresh it was when I opened it. I rehydrated slowly in a bowl of water and used it in my soups. I like having shelf-stable products from August and farms such as diced bell peppers, onions, and celery in my pantry at all times. I love it!
