Brand: Lifestraw

👤You should get a Sawyer-Mini. I have used both on camping trips. You need steel jaws to suck water. If you use a Sawyer or other filters with pump/squeeze action, you won't have to rip out your filling. You have to lie on the ground, and other filters have a straw if the pouch breaks. You need to watch actual videos of people who use these frequently before voting down this post. Everyone uses a pump or squeeze method of filtration. Lifestraws are a great idea, but it is hard to use.

👤I am sorry to have the first one be so negative but the life straw was a total and utter disappointment. I bought it for my daughter to go to Mexico with strict instructions to not drink anything without the life straw. Had she followed my instructions she would have died of dehydration. We followed the instructions from the video to soak it, but we couldn't get any water to come through it. It was too late to return to Amazon and I did not receive a reply when I contacted Life Straw. Too bad. I was going to have one for each family member to have in an emergency pack. I will not do that after this experience.

👤This thing is serious. I went backpacking on Maine's Bigelow range. I ran out of water when I brought it. Bring a wide mouth bottle and fill it with water. I drank from the most disgusting looking hole on top of a lower peak. I thought it would be safe, but it wasn't. Wrong. It tasted like fresh spring water. Better than a tap. I'm from Maine, and I've tasted plenty of water from the mountain springs. It can be difficult to start. You have to prove it by soaking. Blow into it if it still doesn't work. Everyone should have a bug-out bag in case of a civil war, because the world seems to have gone mad.

👤If you don't clear the water after each use, the water will seize up. I didn't run a gallon through either of the break I had.

👤I dropped it from my mouth to the countertop and it stopped working, which is ridiculous. There was no impact at all. It is dangerous to have a water source out in the woods if it can't take an impact. This bad review is solely about that fact.

👤I've used these in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Works as advertised. The system is safe to use. When we deploy, we use it as a standard procedure to have one in everyone's room. It's called Semper Fi.

👤I drank from a steam. I have become a hippie. I'm in a transformation.

👤We got what we ordered. I've used this product before in Afghanistan, and I'm happy with it.

👤The price was right, so I wanted to get one for a while. The water out of the Lake of Two Mountains tasted good and did not have any ill effects.

2. Ladorr Match Holder Striker Decorative

Ladorr Match Holder Striker Decorative

Theirs works great with all matches, including safety matches and strike anywhere matches. Their jar of matches has a mini strikers and extra match strike paper. It's perfect for all sacramentals. A matchstick holder is a great Christmas gift. Can also be used for kitchen match holder. The Black Matte Ceramic Match Holder and Striker is perfect size. 2'' x 1.85'' The matches are not included.

Brand: Ladorr

👤The strike plate on the bottom of the match holder was falling off when I received it. I returned it. How would I light the match if the thin sticker fell off?

👤I was annoyed. This looks gross and is not like the picture. It is rough and doesn't come with pink matches.

👤Does not include matches. It would cost them 25 cents to include.

👤The matchstick holder is short. Nothing special about it.

👤A cute match stick holder. There is a forward on the bottom. Strike anywhere and strike on a box. I put an extra forward to the side of the match holder to make it easier to hit.

👤It looks great in my bathroom. It is small enough to sit on the back of the toilet. It was easy to use.

👤Simple design. A lot of matches. It works well. It looks nice in my bathroom.

👤I bought these as a gift and realized they didn't come with matches. I would assume they did.

3. Canku Waterproof Military Container Essentials

Canku Waterproof Military Container Essentials

The Tough Metal Pill Container is made of Indestructible, Super Tough and Ultra-light Weight aluminum. A small high capacity time capsule cylinder is screwed with a rubber O-ring seal which makes it waterproof and won't open accidentally. It's perfect to store pills, vitamins, money, U-disk, batteries, matches, Flintstones, ear plugs, and other accessories on the go. The Little Emergency First Aid Kit is portable but large enough to meet your daily need and some outdoor activities. The design is easy to take along and can be clipped to the carabiner.

Brand: Canku

👤I bought this product to bring a small bic lighter with me on my raftering trips. The mini's fit just fine, even though they wont fit a full sized bic lighter. I haven't had any problems with water getting in. I would trust these to hold sensitive items. The knurled body allows you to get a tight seal and a good grip when you open the capsule. Great purchase!

👤The orange container has a couple issues. There is a manufacturing defect on the lid. The second problem is that the lid is loose until it is fully tightened. The threads on the lid don't fit into the threads on the body or the other containers. It seems to fit when fully tightened.

👤Maybe it's just me but, O-ring looks small, but there are extras included. Tall enough for large wind/waterproof matches.

👤The threading is a bit crude and benefited from some silicone grease. There are 3 colors with spare o-rings. My black one was wet.

👤It's great for the price and light weight. It needed to be washed, which was easy. I am traveling with them soon and so far they are great.

👤All 3 came with dirt inside.

👤Excellent product for a good price.

👤Very well made will order more, it's worth the price.

4. UCO Stormproof Matches Waterproof Windproof

UCO Stormproof Matches Waterproof Windproof

Kitchen dining in the home. The matches are stormproof. Burns despite wind or rain. 25 matches per box. Extra strikers were included.

Brand: Uco

👤The matches arrived in 5 days. The quality is amazing; everything is great. They're matches, so there isn't much to say, but they do work perfectly as far as waterproof matches go. I put one of the matches in the water when I got them. I tried to light it with the strikers on the side of the box, but it was submerged. The first try was a success. I was more impressed when I tried to blow the match out. Unless you have a hair dryer or something, blowing these things out doesn't seem to work. This is correct for the 15 second limit. I timed the matches and found that the longest you can get is 15 - 16 seconds, but you can get down to 10 seconds if you want. If you're camping or hiking, these are great for waterproof matches.

👤These matches are great. You can light one and put it under water for a few seconds. When you pull it out, it lights up again and continues to go. I have tried everything and you can't put them out. They continue to burn underground, in water, and in high wind. They will burn the stick if there are still chemicals on it. I wouldn't use them indoors because they have a strong sulphur smell when they burn.

👤The match was fired up after the second strike. I held it under the water and pulled it out after a few seconds of it burning. After being held under water for 1-2 seconds, the match flamed back up. The match was held under the water for a while. I think it's important to keep strikers dry. It was nice to have in the bag.

👤The husband bought these for us. We live in the desert. He is fat. I am not interested in working. I don't think matches will be the final deciding factor. But... We won't have to wonder what would have happened if they weren't there. Thank you.

👤My fault the product is exactly as described. I saw the picture and thought I was getting more. This is a very small box. It was kind of expensive for what I got. They work.

👤I lit two of them yesterday. It was dry and sunny. The matches took a few strikes to get them to light. They burned quickly with a lot of white smoke and odor, like fireworks. I wouldn't use them in an enclosed space. Both went out in about 5 seconds and the bare wood portion of the match was not visible. I suppose you could get a fire going with them in an emergency, but you'd have to be fast, and most likely have a few of these available. I'll be keeping these in my kit, but with some quick tinder bundles in a separate container. I would buy them again, but I can see their limitations.

👤I stuck about eight of them. I don't think I should use this product for a year in order to critique its function, they're matches. The wooden stick won't catch fire because the matches only burn phosphorus. Don't expect a slow, steady flame as with regular kitchen matches. This might not be the product for you if you are expecting these matches to light candles or cigars. Why are you five stars? It does what it says it will do. I have not experienced any failures with these matches. The burn time is at least ten seconds with every match, and I can dunk one in water after I strike it and it flares back up after I pull it out. If you're building a guaranteed fire kit for outdoors, you will be satisfied with the addition of these matches.

5. Keychain Permanent Survival Emergency Replacement

The design of Great Gift ideas is very elegant and fancy. The best gift for military fans and hikers is a beautiful gift box, which can be used for many occasions such as business or birthday gifts. Also, note: The airmail regulation does not include fuel.

Brand: Yusud

👤The item I received is not what the picture showed. The picture on Amazon showed the match with 3 wicks, 5 o rings, and a tube of super glue. I received sex, 2 o rings, and super glue.

👤I posted this review for two reasons. I wanted to show what I received. The description was included. This is the second lighter that I have bought. The first one was returned because it was faulty. It is in everyone's best interest to get one that comes with extra wicks, that is what I was told when I ordered another lighter. I was unable to check out the function of the gift because it is a gift, but I do not think it will be a problem.

👤People are having an issue with lighting. It is so easy. I bought four of them for everyone in my family and none of them have had any issues. I filled up all four of them and tested them myself. It is 10/10 recommend.

👤This was bought for a friend. He likes stuff like this. Be sure to read the instructions. The super glue was mistaken for lighter fluid. The lighter fluid doesn't come with it. He said the replacement works great.

👤It works. I tried it with ronsonol and bbq lighter fluid. The most reliable way to light it is to rest it on a rock. This is still hard.

👤It is useful to keep on this thing since it is waterproof. The only downside is that the fiberglass core doesn't hold the fluid well. The zippo┬« wick is replaced with a zippo┬« and it lights every time.

👤It never lights up. It sparks a lot.

👤The carabiner was included with the good replacement part kit. It's nice that there's no "hook" that will get caught on your belt loop. A good tool.

6. SLSESIN Waterproof Multitool Magnesium Survival

SLSESIN Waterproof Multitool Magnesium Survival

All of their products are made in the USA. Easy fire. The fire steel can get a big spark if you get it quickly with the back of the blade. It is a good emergency fire starter for jungle exploration and camping survival. Premium waterproof solid ferrocerium, more durable than ordinary magnesium ferro rod, hit up to 16000 times, be used in various harsh environments. It is easy to ignite including plant fluff, aster fluff, cattail seeds or milkweed grass. The multi-purpose tools include a ruler, corkscrew, and wrench. The 3-inch length is easy to hold and allows the ferro rods to quickly create a big spark, which is crucial in camping survival. The ferro rod fire starter is 4.53 inches and easy to use. The design of the handle provides enough gripping power and can be carried around without taking up a lot of space. If there are any problems with their products, contact them and they would be happy to solve them.

Brand: Slsesin

👤I do a lot of hiking and bushcrafting. These work well. You can get a good deal on long ferro rods. I always keep a torch around my neck when hiking, even though I use a torch most of the time. If you have a 90 degree spine, you will have no issues. Even in the rain and snow. 5!

👤It works well. I bought several to give as gifts. I keep one in my vehicle and bag. It is possible to start a fire with the right tender. If you need more than 3 strikes, use a lighter. It is so convenient to have one in case. The guys like it.

👤In case of rain or bad weather, living in Florida is necessary. It's the best thing ever. Carry anywhere.

👤When struck easily, create sparks. It should work for a long time. Great to carry in a rifle butt pouch or another piece of kit.

👤The handle came off quickly. The rod came out of the handle when I started 3 fires with it.

👤I was surprised that I got two for that price. A few others were bought as gifts. Good stuff!

👤I got two for the price of one. I have one for both bags. It works just fine.

👤Look at my short clip. Comes in two pairs.

7. UCO Stormproof Waterproof Matches Strikers

UCO Stormproof Waterproof Matches Strikers

100 percent SATISFACTION. They guarantee you will love their fire starter multi-tool, even if you're in camping, hiking, backpacking, or prepping your emergency gear. The match case can hold up to 40 matches. After being submerged in water, the matches will relight, burning up to 15 seconds each. The case is waterproof and keeps contents dry and protected. The extended length of match allows for added safety. The kit weight is 1.7 oz. (48 g)

Brand: Uco

👤I used these in a bug out bag. I was reviewing the contents of my bag when I decided to test a match. I lit a match while sitting on my bed and tried to shake it off before it burned my fingers. When the red part was burned through the flame, the panic was not necessary. Even though I am concerned, I am impressed that even a small flame in the sink wasn't enough to stop the fire before it got to the red part. After it was held in the water, it sparked back up again as soon as it was removed. It is inconvenient for lighting in a bedroom to be in a damp camping or emergency setting. Thanks for the great matches. I need to air out my studio because it smells like smoke and flame.

👤I wouldn't count on the matches in an emergency. I might use them as a last resort. The wooden stick is weak and skinny. When you strike it, it will break. On the first try. I know that these are flimsy because I'm the guy who never breaks the wooden stick on traditional wooden matches. They only burn for about 7 to 9 seconds. There is no near 15 seconds. If you don't have a stick to hold, it will burn your fingers if you try to get the match where you want it. It should be removed and stored inside the container. You can strike these on any of the material. The cotton tinder is used to keep the matches from rattling around. The container is cheap Chinese plastic, and you can either get a good one or a bad one. I have two bad ones. Garbage is what the o-rings are. I had to replace the o-rings on the two I ordered because they weren't waterproof. I would have just bought the refill and used my own container. You can buy these at wallymart for 5 bucks. A box of kitchen matches is cheaper than foreign made matches, and would probably save your life. So if these aren't great, what is that? The Zippo Typhoon are better than the others.

👤3 of the 5 day trip were in the pouring rain. It was difficult to light a fire due to the soaked matchea. They're great, but they won't save wet tinder. I had to get a good flame by soaking a cotton ball in Vaseline and using a feather stick. The striking surface wears out very quickly, though matches didn't let me down. I wonder if the wet contributed to its quick wear, as I had to replace it after 10 lights. I recommend them. Without them, my fire wouldn't have started.

👤This is a good product. The container is very visible. Extra strips for striking your matches and cotton to help keep the humidity in check are included. The wax seal was ruined by the match stick's protective coating sticking to the cotton. In my case, it's not a big deal. I worry that some containers may have more matches that have not been opened. If you are planning on keeping these for emergency purposes, I would recommend inspecting them closely. This is an excellent product and I will be purchasing more in the future. I have included an image of the two damaged matches with a good match for reference. You could use candle wax to waterproof the top.

8. Coghlans 940BP Waterproof Matches Pack

Coghlans 940BP Waterproof Matches Pack

There are over 100 ENGAGING PROMPTS & INCLUSIVEACTIVITIES. Clever cards can help reluctant children open up. The topics encourage real world application: friendship, patience, respect, gratitude, handling conflict, perspective taking, honesty, asking for help, stress and anger management, and goal setting. The strikers and heads are waterproof. Safety matches can't light up accidentally. The box must be struck on the waterproof surface. 40 matches per box It's ideal for hunters, fishermen, campers or outdoor workers.

Brand: Coghlan's

👤These are not good. * The matches are so flimsy that they break when striking as often as not. The striking surface on the box is like a piece of paper that is falling off. If you don't have a striking surface, the matches won't be of use. * The price is 3.5 cents per light. That is 70 times more expensive than a lighter. Just buy a lighter. 3 of them for the price of the matches.

👤The matches do not stand up to high humidity. I took them on a backpacking trip where it rained every day. The humidity of the atmosphere made the tip of the match sticks fall off when you tried to hit them. The match sticks snapped in half. These are not good matches. The paper ones at the gas stations work better. Don't waste money or time.

👤I needed to relight my smoker quickly because I couldn't get the box to slide out so I could get a match. I have found the little boxes to be difficult before. They seem to take a few strikes to get them to light. I thought it could be me, but I don't think so. Won't buy again.

👤Break and don't last. I have had them since 4 or 5 years ago. I bought these in the early 90's and tried them out recently in the renovated basement, but I couldn't smoke a cigar. I did 18 to 24 matches and only 3 worked well. Don't buy extra thats for sure.

👤If you factor in less than half of the matches, they will work. I tried to contact the seller. They have a price tag on them that has been covered by ink, so don't buy them. $3. They are purchasing these, sitting around their house, trying to destroy the price tag, and then wrapping and shipping them for a 300%. There is a profit.

👤My water bladder leaked from the straw and I got wet. The matches wouldn't hit the box. The matches were ruined when the wood soaked up the water.

👤I haven't tested them yet because they are in my survival kit. I am not going to open the product for a few weeks or months because the packaging is thick and the product looks good. If they don't meet my expectations, I can update if they don't, but I don't expect that. Happy so far.

👤The 36 hour survival candle is included in the car winter survival kits. The value is great.

👤The matches I received seemed to have dried out over time, so I removed one star. You can definitely feel the boxes have been soaked before. The matches are great. They are light and waterproof.

👤Really pleased with these. Even when they were wet, they still worked. It's perfect for hiking and camping.

👤These matches are not what I would consider safety matches. One can only hold them for a short time before the flame reaches them.

👤It's a good buy, even though it's a little pricey, because it's waterproof for lighting a cigarette in all weather.

9. Morisk Permanent Waterproof Refillable Firestarter

It is a perfect gift for your friends and family on any occasion like Birthday, Father's Day, Christmas etc. The Creative Lighter has a unique "W" shape flint scraper that can easily strike metal matchstick on the ferrocerium rod in the side. Email them for help.

Brand: Morisk

👤This is not a tool that I would use often. Not what I was hoping for. There are a lot of better options.

10. AINEKUI Permanent Waterproof Emergency Equipment

AINEKUI Permanent Waterproof Emergency Equipment

You can put small items in fishing gear hooks. It is possible to refill and replenish. The flint match is good for at least 15,000 strikes. It is waterproof and durable. It works equally well when wet or cold. It's easy to converse. It's a good idea to keep it in your pocket, backpack or car key chain, because it's a good idea to carry it in the rain or cold. A good partner for camping, hiking or other outdoor activities. It is easy to fill with gasoline or kerosene. The fuel is not included due to the airmail regulation. The cotton core absorbs the fuel if the strikers are put back into the tube. Then strike against the flint strip on the side of the body. The utility and convenience of this keychain make it a must-have hiking or camping gear. It works equally well when it's wet or cold. It is a perfect gift for your friends and family on any occasion like Birthday, Father's Day, etc.

Brand: Ainekui

👤You can't use this without lighter fluid. It doesn't work. I couldn't get it to start. I need something that is more reliable.

👤The first time I tried to use it, it broke. It's not great for a survival situation.

11. UCO Stormproof Matches Waterproof Windproof

UCO Stormproof Matches Waterproof Windproof

The match kit is 1.5 inches in diameter and 4.5 inches tall. The matches are stormproof. Burns despite wind or rain. There are 2 boxes and 25 matches. Extra strikers were included.

Brand: Uco

👤You can't win these matches. I used similar ones in the military, but it was more expensive. The matches will not be submerged when lit. They burst out of the water in 2 seconds. I've used them in the field many times. They won't go in the bush without them. I only noticed the difference from normal matches. As soon as the source ends, these go out. The wooden stick can be kept an ember. I don't think you need to worry about an ember because these burn so hot for about 15 seconds. You can't blow them out or extinguish them with water, they need to burn out completely. They are still very hot and dangerous to other sources after they burn out. These are matches for survival. Don't light a candle for a romantic dinner. I don't recommend using them indoors. They put off a smell and smoke for a short time. The strikers are my only gripe. I stuck the extra striking paper to the side of the box. The matches use a lot of the strikers. You can't beat the price for emergency use.

👤Be careful! These are more of a mini flair than a match. I don't know if you want to try and light candles, cigarettes, or lanterns in bad weather. They are great for lighting a fire in wind and rain. My boyfriend tried to light a candle and we had a holy moment. Great product, but don't use it like a regular match.

👤We burn most of our paper and cardboard in the country to save money on trips to the dump. I tried to find the old Red tip. There are green things that won't light up or break when hit, all you can find is a stick. These matches are great. They're a bit pricey. They light with veeery little striking force, but you only get 50 in a box. The burn was very hot. It's almost impossible to light cardboard with a match. These burs are so hot that they can light up cardboard. 50 matches are still pricey but they work well.

👤I don't know if I got a bad package or not, but the wood is weak, so when I strike the match, it snaps in multiple pieces. I can light them up. I end up with a short match.

👤I had to test the claims of these once lit being able to reignite even after being submerged in water. I found they won't last long underwater, but they will relight themselves if dowsed. I'm not a chemist, but they seem to get their strength from having a high phosphorous content. The firework smell lingered for half an hour in the warehouse where I tested it. It's a good idea to keep some of these on hand in case you're in a setting where no regular match can cut it.

👤Not as useful for casual/car camping, regular matches or a lighter will get you more fire per dollar. Durability is dependent on the way the match is lit. Those that are not using leverage while striking have complaints about the break easy. They can be dried and work without loss of function if they become wet, but they are limited in function. These come in at a great price when backpacking, kayak camping, or other situations where I am guaranteed to encounter water. I will be using a cheaper method of ignition for my average night in the woods.
