👤I had trouble locating the whistle. The compass, flint, and other items were all good, but I found the whistle a bit difficult to blow. This package is very good value for money and delivers what is said. The cord is strong and secure. Very pleased with this.

👤A cute gift for my grandsons. The colors are nice. The whistle is loud and they need to practice the Firestarter. Every child needs a safety bracelet.

👤I bought these for my troop. The bracelets are the same as pictured, but the compasses are a bit confused. I contacted the company but never heard back.

👤I wanted the kids to have a whistle while hiking. The whistles don't make any noise. I tried all of them.

👤The family loved hiking in the woods on Christmas. The spark will light if you scratch the black first.

👤Some reviews mentioned sharp edges. Just be aware, not for very young children. It's a great stocking stuffer.

👤I received these for a campout. The whistles didn't work well.

👤The compass is about 10 degrees off.

2. Bayite Survival Ferrocerium Striker Pro Paracord

Bayite Survival Ferrocerium Striker Pro Paracord

Water resistant to 100m is suitable for swimming and snorkeling, but not diving. The length of the rod is 6 inches. The rod has a diameter of about 1/2. 9ft Paracord gives you a good grip and never comes off. Always be prepared to start a fire with the bayite new Striker-Pro strikers. The bayite 6 Striking Edges Striker-Pro is made from tool grade steel and has a distinct hardness, which makes it great for both left and right hands. Extra large. A shower of hot sparks can light fire in any situation. Weather resistant. It works all weather. The back of a box cutter can be used to cut a blade. That is the most efficient scraper that can be found. Don't use a bad quality knife. It won't produce enough sparks if it has insufficient hard blade. Up to 3000 degrees C spark can be provided at any altitude. It lasts for approximately 12,000 strikes. Emergency fire starter for Bushcraft, Hiking, Hunting, Fishing, Camping, EDC, Emergency, BBQ, Gas Camp Stoves, etc.

Brand: Bayite

👤These are large. Love them. They are great if you have several. The rods are great, but the strikers aren't worth much. The stricker pulls are small and can be used after the 2nd or 3rd use. It's not clear why you would put something so small in a big piece of plastic. The blade should be bigger so it can stay intact. I was put in a bad spot many times. Had to drop two stars. Fix the issue and it will return to 5 stars.

👤The best ferro rod ever. The lanyard is not long enough to be a comfortable necklace, but the rod is off the hook. Even the greats will love it. I went to Lowe's and bought a $5 blue hawk that was made by the pruners and it doubled if not tripled. It takes some getting used to but it's a great combo. I'm going to use para-cord to attach the strikers and put a big key ring through the lanyard to make it work. This rod is worth every penny. Don't practice it in the house or you may burn a small hole in your ottoman, but with this you will be shoots sparks in no time and add a carbide sharpener to it and watch out, but be warned, don't practice it in the house or you may burn a

👤I got into woodcraft and the outdoors a few years back and bought one of those "Bear Grylls" knives that came with a ferro rod, but it was useless. I've decided to try various dedicated ferro rod/striker set ups instead of some version tossed into a bundle of other so-called "survival" items. Lighters that can run out of fuel, waterproofed matches, and other means of making a fire seem to be unreliable. I don't live outdoors or face survival needs at my office, but getting into the outdoors seemed like a practical skill to learn, and a practical thing to do. I went for a European made kit after learning about the various compounds used. I bought a few kits from China. I know this is manufactured in China, but whatever factory they are using is producing a top notch product here, for an excellent price. It is better than my kit from Europe. This is a real world fire starting tool. Any kind of decent tinder needs more than the amount of spark to light it. You could get a fire going in almost any condition with the combo of this rod and strikers. I can light fat wood shavings, as well as basic wood shavings, or any practical tinder. The heavy coating on the rod takes a bit of work to remove. I used a sanding file to get down to the surface and it is spark heaven. The strikers is excellent. A lot of the kits made to look nice aren't as functional. This is a tool. It does as it is supposed to. More spark, longer lasting rod, and more surface from which to generate spark is what this is. I am very happy that it is a part of my pack now. I use it to light the fires in my fireplace because I like it so much. It's rewarding to be able to make fire. This product is highly recommendable. This one gets it done for a novice, intermediate or expert. Five stars! I hope this helps you find a good ferro rod. It's a good thing.

👤I know a little about disaster medical assistance teams and search & rescue, but I'm not going to claim to be an expert. I really like this thing. It's the size and shape of an overly thick pencil, light enough to fit in a shirt pocket without pulling at the fabric, and solid enough to be used in self-defense, and it's a good class to take. It starts fires. It irritates my neighbors dog. It cuts, scales, shaves, sharpens, and AnyFormats. It tells time with a compass. An easy to carry pocket fishing pole that doesn't feel like it's going to break if you catch a fish with it is finally here. I'm not going to say anything about the glass break feature. Glass is a glass-breaker. The whole thing is a metal glass breaker. I replaced the paracord with an equal length of Tacti-Glow Survival Cord, the same length as the provided cord was already suited for self defense use. It's light weight and solid enough to hurt, but a good whip strike on bone will hurt the other guy. I'm not going to claim to be an expert, but I could build Gilligan's Island with this thing. I don't know if it's a tool or a toy. I'm going to be playing with it a lot. I'm ordering more for my jacket, glove box, and "oh sh*t" bag to go along with the one that's going to be in my pants/ shorts pocket at all times. It doesn't need an light to illuminate it. My belt buckle has an LED light built into it. If they want to make any changes to the design, they should figure out how to play the James Bond theme song while it shoots darts or a grappling hook.

👤Love it. I've used the fire starter and fish hook. The starter started a fire. That was great. I used a fish hook and line to pull my keys out of the small crack I accidentally dropped them into. They saved me from a 10 mile hike back to cell service. This is easy to carry and has been useful. I think it's worth a purchase.

👤I thought it would be a great addition to my bag. I thought it would be too big, but it's perfect! I put a S in the Molly gear loops and it was perfect. If you screw the knife part in, it will rattle. I got rid of 3 tools and replaced them with this. Space saver! I took all of the fishing line off, and put more on that was twice as long.

👤They would never know what's inside of the survival tool, which is why it's a great gift. The lanyard that comes with the tool is about 2 feet in length. The magnesium stick works well when used with a blade. It would be handy if the need arises, but the blade would be sharper. I will probably replace the fishing line with a braided line but the included line would be very useful and works. As the line ages, I would suggest checking it. This is for all fishing line. I believe this survival tool is good for anyone who is just starting out in this type of thing or would make a great gift idea.

4. XINMAN Aluminum Starter,Fire Emergency Hiking(Red

The built-in flint in the multi tool kit can be used to make life saving fire. It is not afraid of rain. To remove debris quickly, use the matching spatula or knife to quickly remove it from its surface. The size of the fire starter is 10mm. The product is tasteless and non-toxic. To quickly remove debris, use the matching spatula or knife. It will explode in the air. Children should not be in contact with other people. If you have any questions, please contact them.

Brand: Xinman

👤Not being very sharp was the only thing that was different. The ferro rod has a shower of sparks. A nice starter flame can be created by the treated rope piece that was sliced off and rolled between the fingers.

👤It was as advertised. Very good price. I am satisfied that it is a good purchase.

👤Excellent product, essential for travel.

Brand: Daarcin

👤I love the outdoors with friends, it really started a fire, after I scratched some of coating away from the flint and scratched some magnesium on combustible, I will tell a secret, if you scratched more magnesium on combustible, it will be easier to get fire. There is a The small flashlight at night is useful, but don't use it for corridor light and toilet light. The tools need to be removed because it is a problem, but I think it is worth it. You get what you pay for.

👤The daarcin version seemed inferior even though they looked the same. I don't know if it's the flint or the scraper, but you have to push so hard it's useless and the whistle doesn't work

👤I try to be as fair and understanding as possible, but I hate leaving reviews that are not the most positive. I love it and it fits perfect after a few modifications, but I was disappointed after I only showered twice and the compass got water in it. I would give it a 5 star rating and recommend it if it was just mine that was faulty. I used a lighter to burn the tips, then needle nose pliers to bond them together, and acetone to remove the lettering from the light. A tip.

👤My husband and grandson love the bracelet. They wear it all the time because you never know when you need to go into survival mode. It encourages exploration for surviving in the outdoors even if the situation is dire. I highly recommend it.

👤7 year old was obsessed with his wrist, but he didn't mind. It can start fires.

👤The gift was well-received. Thank you so much!

👤My nephew gets lost a lot. We told him not to wear it to school because there is a knife in it, so keep that in mind, he was so happy to receive this as a present. He can start fires at his will so take that into account. It's a fun gift that gets the kids excited, but not great for devious and impulsive children.

👤It was a great idea, the cord is thick, and the compass is nice, but the only reason I gave it a 3 star is because it broke, I have to keep figuring out how to fix it.

6. Bayite Survival Ferrocerium Paracord Landyard

Bayite Survival Ferrocerium Paracord Landyard

5ft Paracord gives you a good grip and never comes off. Always be prepared to start a fire with the bayite Striker-Pro strikers attached to the paracord. The bayite 6 Striking Edges Striker-Pro is made from tool grade steel and has a distinct hardness, which makes it great for both left and right hands. Don't use a bad quality knife. It won't produce enough sparks if it has insufficient hard blade. The ferrocerium rod is 4 cm in length. The diameter is 10mm. Large enough for a shower of sparks and small enough to carry. The ferrocerium rod is very effective. It works in any weather condition. At any altitude, sparks shower to ignite a fire in any weather. Emergency fire starter for Bushcraft, Hiking, Hunting, Fishing, EDC, Emergency, BBQ, Gas Camp Stoves, etc.

Brand: Bayite

👤This is a back-up fire starter for our camping trip to Boundary Waters Canoe Area. I am impressed with the amount of spark this thing throws. It is my primary fire starter now. If I could only take two items in a survival scenario, this would be #2. It's quality and ability to start a fire make it an insane value. I have gotten less in other products. * Even when your gear gets wet, this works. Keep some magnesium powder with you. * It is simple and predictable. My kids can use it. There is a * The thing is small and light so it won't bother you. * Excellent product/customer support was provided by the package. My own fault was the only flaw I had with it. The ferro rod has a protective coating that has to be removed before it will spark. It took me 4 seconds to realize that it was not a factor. I hope this helps you make an informed decision. There is a I lost my ferro rod. I was going to shoot a video of this thing in action, but I lost it on my last camping trip. I will order this one again, I love it so much. Other rods don't interest me after using this one. There are a lot of reviews against the strikers. The strikers may not be the most comfortable, but they are an intentionally engineered product. The steel in the strikers is a specific steel with a specific composition and hardness. A different strike may not produce the same sparks.

👤I like the paracord lanyard and the fero rod is a good size. I've read that the strikers are so-so. I only paid $9 for this thing and I can get past a mediocre strikers. If you're going to be in the woods, you should have a knife. I have some smaller fero rods that can be a bit awkward to use. The rod is easy to hold. I bought 2 of these for camping and a BOB so I can put them in my day pack and get home bag. It was worth every bit of $9.

👤I played around with it to get a feel for it. Some rods are better than others. I tried a dry cotton ball that I had pulled apart and made into a fluffy "nest" of sorts. The second was a piece of paper. I tried it against a pile of wood. They lit up pretty easily. If you know how to make a fire, it's not a big deal. If you're a learner, you can get yourself some book learnin' on the subject by sitting down with some good old fashioned youtube. Everyone should know how to make fires. A ferro rod is just one of many tools. I found the strikers to be sufficient but not perfect. If you are looking at these, you should have a sturdy knife with you. The strikers is less important if you have a good knife. I will keep them together because they are a decent little kit. It only took me a few flicks with the strikers to light the fires I had been trying to set. This rod is easy to use and durable. I know what to expect from this rod in the event that I ever need to use it. It's all you can ask of a ferro rod.

7. Lixada Emergency Whistle Paracord Bracelet

Lixada Emergency Whistle Paracord Bracelet

Their bracelets are adjusted to 7” length and 7” width. They can be adjusted from 7 to 7.5. Each bracelet has a locking clasp and a bronze American flag. Loud whistle buckle to catch attention when need help. The emergency kit has an oil filled compass, whistle, flint fire starter and scraper. Paracord bracelets, lanyards, and other survival gear can be made using this method. You can carry a small size with useful functions. There is a pack of 2PCS and 10PCS.

Brand: Lixada

👤Excellent product! The video is not the whole truth. The compass for that one was not accurate. I used a hard drive to remagnetize the compass. I accidentally made it too strong so it got pulled towards the metal scraper. My real military compass is dead on with 8/10 of these compass's. Only a few people appear as if the dial is stuck. They are still floating. The fero rod works well after a few attempts. They say that a fero rod sparks at 5,000F so be careful and only try it in a safe location. It can cause a fire or cause a fire that is very dangerous. Please be safe. I was able to hit a loud sound with my sound meter, but my scream was 100 decibels. It is loud if you find yourself floating on a door in the middle of the ocean when your ship sinks. They could save your life in a survival situation. Even though two of the compass's were not accurate, I give them a 10/10. If I were in a business, I would warn people that the compass's remagnetized need to be unbuckled before using it. These are for my friends and family. Excellent product! I hope the pictures of the size help anyone decide to purchase these clasps.

👤The rest of the compasses will work for the directions. It is good that the whistles are loud. The firesteels will work in a pinch if modified. I wish the strikers came out and there was a flat side. It is hard to get consistent flames because it chews into the firesteel, meaning it will get harder and harder to use. It is a tight space and it damages the clasps. That is a given. If you needed to breakdown your bracelet, you wouldn't worry about the clasp, you could just use a tool you have on you, or you could tear out the firesteel part and use the ferro rod. These are nice and it is understood that you are buying bulk items from china and some things might not be quality controlled and the compasses can be damaged in transit. I will use the 3 messed up ones for kids gifts and practice or show, and the other 7 for selling. I knew what I was paying for so it is all good.

👤This is the magnet that you are looking for. The compass is on the opposite side of the buckle from the metallic flint scraper. You can unbuckle if you need to. If you need to realign your compass, you can do it with another magnet. The compass and flint scraper are not on the same side. The whistle works well.

👤The components work as described but the compass on about half of them is malfunctioning and some were not completely filled.

👤Good product. After removing the layers of paint, the fire starter works well. If the 2 ends of the buckle are not together, the compass won't give a true reading. Most of my customers don't want bracelets because they're too large and difficult to Buckle, if you have a large wrist, I wouldn't use thes for bracelets.

8. Black Paracord Bracelet Emergency FLC158 FWC

Black Paracord Bracelet Emergency FLC158 FWC

The black color is made in Europe. A good Christmas gift. Men and women who enjoy outdoor activities can get some stuffers. The size of the Whistle Buckle is 52*29mm. Plastic, Magnesium, and Metal are the material types. You will have survival tools that can help you in an emergency. A fire starter that will help give you sparks, and a compass that will guide you. When you own survival gear and men's and women's outdoor hunting gear, this is a stylish accessory to own. It works well with hiking and camping backpacks. Why some of the compass direction is not right? The metal flint Scraper and Flintstones Stick has an effect on the compass that leads to the wrong direction. If you are not completely satisfied with the product, please contact them.

Brand: Coobigo

👤These are very cheap. They work well as buckles. The whistles work, but should be louder. The ferro rods are not strong. The sparks were not hot enough to ignite the Spartan fire tinder or cotton balls soaked in vaseline. The wazoo fire starter necklace was easy to ignite. Unless you are trying to get lost, the compasses are a complete joke. All of them point in a different direction and they don't rotation smoothly as you turn. They have no chance of working since they are placed over the strikers. It's a cool toy for kids, but dangerous as a survival tool.

👤All of the compasses that I ordered had crookedlyglued in poorly, they will only succeed in getting you lost in an actual survival situation, as they do not tell north. You should rely on this compass at your own risk. Unless you want to starve to death in the woods. The placement of the knife makes it nearly impossible to buckle one handed, which is frustrating and awkward. I wonder if it's possible to put a knife next to the skin and then use it tobuckle it, just wait until you pinch your wrist in the knife part. The whistle does what it says, but the fire strikers work brilliantly. It is the only functional part of the idea. If you can put the knife into a place that doesn't require it to sheath into the other side, you can replace the toy compass with an actual compass that points at the north, and you can use the whistle. It was a cool idea, but a poor execution. It would be more useful if you made a firestriker that people could put opposite the buckle on a bracelet.

👤The paracord bracelet projects we did for a scout campout were a huge hit. I thought it was a novelty but was surprised by how functional it was. The kids love starting the fire with flint and steel and they were able to get some sparks from these. The whistle was not perfect. If anyone got lost, it would be helpful. The metal in the clip was a concern, but the compass, as well as the other ones, were all fairly accurate. I don't think they'll be used as primary tools for a back-country camp, but they're very handy if you find you need any of the functions, or if you forget something.

👤They are just buckles and that is all. Whistles don't work. Firestarters don't start fires. Only two of the compasses point the same way, which indicates that true north is south-southwest. None of them point north as determined by a compass.

👤It's decent for a survival bracelet. The button compass is too small, and the oil-dampening on the compass is too strong, so you have to slowly spin the compass back and forth to get a read. It's an ok back-up compass, but I haven't owned it long enough to know how good the oil seal is. This is not a substitute for a lensatic compass, so it should not be used as your primary compass. If your primary compass is lost, this compass should only be used. The signal whistle and fire starter work well. It's enough to catch, but not a lot of sparks coming off of the starter. The whistle is loud. The construction of the buckle is thick but weak and probably won't hold up to much abuse.

👤These are great. Attaching my fishing magnet to my wrist. I don't let the rope go when I toss it in. It's nice to have an emergency whistle and a compass.

👤It should have been adjusted. It is black and yellow. Can you tell me about YELLOW?

👤The person I bought them for really liked them and they arrived on time.

👤All other functions of this bracelet are normal and will be used in all backpacking trips. I am 16 years old and my wrist width is 2.6 inches. It takes time to relax and wear comfortable clothes. The igniter was there as the whistle sounded and the compass worked.

👤I wish it had more options.

👤The gift was super good and was a Hanukkah gift. The recipient is very pleased with them.

The ultimate fixed blade survival knife is 10 ounces. Theitarian drop point blade is 2.2 The steel is made ofstainless steel. The knives for men and women are backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Brand: Gerber Gear

👤I bought this knife because of the good reviews, but I was wrong to think it was a USA made product, it is engineered and designed in China, and I am going to rethink all my purchases. The knife is strong, has a good grip, but could have been sharper, but it is ok. There is a whistle on the lanyard and a fire starter rod that is on the back of the blade that makes sparks. I wish the descriptions pointed out that it was made in China.

👤The Bear Grylls Ultimate Survival has taken a lot of abuse over the years. It is one of my favorite economic knives. I was looking for a spare since it was discontinued, and luckily the non-advertised version came out from Gerber. It came with a great color. See the pictures. I recommend this product for hikers who need a good economic knife.

👤I read and watched many video reviews before buying this knife. A lot of people don't like the fact that this knife is made in China. Most of the things they own are made in China. I don't think so. The craftsmanship of this knife is not as good as that of a handmade $200+ knife, but it is a pretty good knife. It is tough as nails and holds an edge. Whatever you throw at it, it can handle it. I keep it in my emergency kit when it's not in use. Fire and earthquakes are the biggest natural disaster risks in my area. I would recommend this knife to anyone looking for a heavy duty knife.

👤The knife has been good. Within the first few uses, the firestarter broke. I returned the fire starter to the store. I haven't received the replacement or a response. Terrible customer service.

👤I just got a knife and I like it. This is the same as the Ultimate Knife but without all the markings. The subdued colors of this one make it much more appealing to me, even though I like the Bear Grylls style in general. The nuts and bolts are sturdy and you can feel it right away. The flint won't fall out if it hangs upside-down, and it snaps right into a sockets on the front of the sheath. It snaps firmly into place, but it's not easy to remove. It's much easier to pry loose the flint on my official Bear Grylls Ultimate Pro than it is to use the knife blade. The sheath can be worn vertically or horozontally. The sheath has a sharpening stone under it and can be opened with a strap. Since this isn't a Bear Grylls item, it's expected that this knife doesn't have a pocket in the sheath to hold it. Even though I haven't taken this knife out into the woods yet, I will not hesitate to rely on it for my needs when they arise. This knife is also available under a different listing with a custom engraving on the blade. I went with the original because I wanted the free prime shipping, but both knives are the same price.

Brand: Lifestraw

👤You should get a Sawyer-Mini. I have used both on camping trips. You need steel jaws to suck water. If you use a Sawyer or other filters with pump/squeeze action, you won't have to rip out your filling. You have to lie on the ground, and other filters have a straw if the pouch breaks. You need to watch actual videos of people who use these frequently before voting down this post. Everyone uses a pump or squeeze method of filtration. Lifestraws are a great idea, but it is hard to use.

👤I am sorry to have the first one be so negative but the life straw was a total and utter disappointment. I bought it for my daughter to go to Mexico with strict instructions to not drink anything without the life straw. Had she followed my instructions she would have died of dehydration. We followed the instructions from the video to soak it, but we couldn't get any water to come through it. It was too late to return to Amazon and I did not receive a reply when I contacted Life Straw. Too bad. I was going to have one for each family member to have in an emergency pack. I will not do that after this experience.

👤This thing is serious. I went backpacking on Maine's Bigelow range. I ran out of water when I brought it. Bring a wide mouth bottle and fill it with water. I drank from the most disgusting looking hole on top of a lower peak. I thought it would be safe, but it wasn't. Wrong. It tasted like fresh spring water. Better than a tap. I'm from Maine, and I've tasted plenty of water from the mountain springs. It can be difficult to start. You have to prove it by soaking. Blow into it if it still doesn't work. Everyone should have a bug-out bag in case of a civil war, because the world seems to have gone mad.

👤If you don't clear the water after each use, the water will seize up. I didn't run a gallon through either of the break I had.

👤I dropped it from my mouth to the countertop and it stopped working, which is ridiculous. There was no impact at all. It is dangerous to have a water source out in the woods if it can't take an impact. This bad review is solely about that fact.

👤I've used these in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Works as advertised. The system is safe to use. When we deploy, we use it as a standard procedure to have one in everyone's room. It's called Semper Fi.

👤I drank from a steam. I have become a hippie. I'm in a transformation.

👤We got what we ordered. I've used this product before in Afghanistan, and I'm happy with it.

👤The price was right, so I wanted to get one for a while. The water out of the Lake of Two Mountains tasted good and did not have any ill effects.
