Brand: Milspec Tactical

👤I used it for camping. Even though it was a little heavy, the hammer did its job. I cut through some brush with the help of the sharpened side of the shovel. The compass takes a few taps to make it accurate. I'm pleased with its added functions and I have no issues with its usefulness.

👤Not bad. I was worried about breaking the plastic on the knife and fire stick since they were cheap. The shovel worked well. I had the axe roll in my hand multiple times and I couldn't lose it after a few tries. The return process has begun.

👤The seller of the axe sent me an apology and said they would fix the problem for future orders. Thanks! Great customer service. The product is small and sturdy. The axe was missing. The rest looks sturdy, but not the value stated without all parts included.

👤It is small.

👤When I received my order, there was no hatchet cover. The vendor shipped one out after I contacted them. Quality products!

👤A great tool for camping. Really like the different handle lengths and multiple tools.

👤We use a folding shovel for camping. It's great to help put out fires. My boys love digging holes with it. It's handy when you forget a steak knife. It's a good thing.

👤It's not bad to keep with a 4 Wheeler.

2. CRKT Woods Kangee Tomahawk Axe

CRKT Woods Kangee Tomahawk Axe

The axe is good enough to tackle even small trees, as well as perform other small tasks like clearing trail, bushcraft or getting the wood ready for a campfire. The axe isn't meant for cutting down big trees. The small size makes it easy to carry and fit in the bag. Carbon steel provides edge retention. The dense material of Tennessee hickory is durable. A multi-purpose utility can split wood or use spike penetration. Ryan Johnson is the designer of the product. The company has a limited lifetime warranty on workmanship and materials.

Brand: Crkt

👤Disappointed. I own a second CRKT M16-14 pocket knife. The first one had a handle. I upgraded to a titanium model. The pocket knives have been very pleasant to use. It's not the same with 'CRKT Woods Kangee Tomahawk'. The metal head was so hard that a ring of wood was shaved off the top of the handle. I took it to the wood pile in the backyard for some testing. I put the axe head on the fire wood. It chops well with the grain. The package was not very sharp. I tried to cut an area on a small log with edge, but couldn't. The head became wobbly after less then ten chops, but it chopped OK against the grain. I used modest force to swing the Tomahawk. The head came loose because of the damage to the handle. The tomahawk can now be seen. The metal of the axe head has an irregular surface. The display model pictures of the Tomahawk look great. The finish on the head is hammered. It looks like it was spray painted. I live near CRKT's headquarters and will try to get satisfaction from them. I will update the review after contact with CRKT.

👤The product is terrible. The axe head and handle are not the same. You have to figure it out on your own. It does not come with a sheath. If you thought you would save money, you won't, because you'll probably have to order the sheath separately. The blade is not very sharp. I regret buying this axe. I wish I'd taken a chance on the equivalent Condor axe, because I think that might be more in keeping with the advertisement. Good quality in their axes won't be found with any solid CRKT knives. Don't buy it from CRKT.

👤I am a metallurgist. The head was not hot forged. They worked on the blade for them to be able to claim forging. Deceptive advertising. It is probably fine for most users. The head was moving along the shaft when it arrived in the box. It appears that it was pressed on and shaved the shaft. The shaved wood was left in a ring around the top of the shaft above the head, and no wedges were used to tighten the head. I'll have to do that myself. The edge of the axe is a joke. The ground is too large and not sharp enough to cut a hard boiled egg. Why did they waste plastic by putting a guard on it? If you have large hands, beware, the handle is very small. I need to increase the diameter by 50% just to be able to hold onto it when swinging. Don't be fooled by the garbage narrative. A tactical and special forces woodsman. . Look at his beard. This is a cheap hatchet. You get what you pay for.

👤There was a problem with the handle of the CRKT Kangee Tomahawk. The tomahawk's handle is too thin for it to seat properly, and the axe head is near the end. The handle has rolled up some wood. The axe head press fit was not performed correctly. The large end of the handle is not big enough to seat the axe head. The only way to seat the axe head is to drive a wedge. The manufacturer should never have left this way. The tomahawk axe head will never be able to seat on this handle, because it is one solitary, simple look. I have to order another handle and wait for it to arrive. What a waste. The manufacturer should be ashamed that this left the facility. I own a CRKT Chogan Tomahawk and it arrived perfect. Very disappointed that this one is so bad.

3. HX OUTDOORS Mercenarys Multifunctional Explosion Proof

This axe is versatile and has a hammer and pry tool. There is a risk free warranty. They will replace or refund your purchase if you don't like it.

Brand: Hx Hx Outdoors

👤I have not been offered any compensation by HX Outdoors, Amazon, or any other company for my opinions regarding this product. The axe is an awesome tool, and it's 100% usable straight out of the box. The great This axe is a great buy, as compared to other brands in the same style, at a listed price of $79.99. The length is great for being able to get good swing leverage, there are finger grooves on the head for lighter shaving and shaping tasks. The advantage is that you won't break the head of the axe by hitting something with the hammer pad, unlike a cast/badly-forged axe. This axe is better for longevity and reliability because it is FULL tang. I don't know what they're for, but they're going to be used for a lanyard on my lanyard. The fit of the head sheath is great, and can be adjusted to fit any position. The design of the cutting edges is incredibly useful for different types of cutting tasks, but at first glance it appears to be function-less. The use of the scales is a good choice, but the ergonomics are not good, HX made a good attempt at indicating holding positions, but the overall feel of the scales is not comfortable. They are sharp to the touch, but can be corrected by sanding them down for a few minutes. I don't think I will use it much, but the addition of a multi-size wrench is nice. Maybe I will. The pry bar is well-shaped and will be useful if I need one. The screws that came in the axe handle are not black-oxide coated as one might think. They are painted black. The solvent in the glue reacted with the paint on the screws, creating a nasty congealed mess under the screw heads. I removed the screws and posts and the material was a bit melted from the excess glue in the laminate. I cleaned it all off because it was horrible. I'm not entirely sure why they cheaped out on hardware and thread-lock, since they aren't expensive to begin with. I can't imagine HX would use painted screws and super-glue in lieu of Loc-Tite and black-oxide screws in order to make these in a volume. I'll be replacing the scales with rosewood, profiled to match the existing scales, and I'll be wrapping the handle in a style similar to Japanese Tsukamaki, with a leather over wood core, finished in silk or leather ito. The bamboo mekugi pins will probably be the same as the screws, since ito will keep everything together. I'll be adding menuki to the build as well. A 4-star tool. It's definitely solid, useful outdoors and cool-looking. The purchase price was well- worth it. I'm making a project out of my axe, but it's more than usable right out of the box. HX, please use black-oxide screws and thread-lock. I have not been offered any compensation for my opinions regarding this product.

👤The axe came as a shock. Also, well built. It took 2 months to ship from China, but I'm not a stickler for tools. That is due to not having a prime option. It performed as expected after being tested out. It's in my camping bag. This thing is awesome.

4. AIETOL Camping Bushcraft Survival 10 5 Inch

AIETOL Camping Bushcraft Survival 10 5 Inch

This axe is good enough to deal with small trees, and can also be used to cut down jungle or prepare firewood for fireflies. The axe has a sharp edge. Even in high humidity, the fiberglass nylon handle is non-slippery. A balanced axe hammer will make cutting wood a pleasure. The survival axe is made from 3Cr13 steel. The camp axe has a sheath, a small one-handed axe, a bushcraft axe, and a 16-oz weight. Men and women will find the best gifts. It's a must have for your camping/ outdoor accessories, survival gear and equipment list.

Brand: Aietol

👤Any physical work can be done with the extremely tough axe.

👤The design of this Axe is great. It's perfect for camping. I use it to make kindling for firewood. It comes very quickly. It is a super sharp. The axe is beat with a wooden handle. The head is fixed to the shaft. The other side of the blade is great for hammering. It's perfect for splitting wood when I drive my tent stakes down. It has a protective case. One of the clasps is not quite close. You have to pinch it and make sure. I wish it came with a sharpening stone. It's a great axe.

👤But not razor sharp. The plastic handle is balanced so you can practice throwing. Chop on one side with a hammerhead on the opposite side. Great for camping.

👤The axe is perfect for camping. I bought it for my husband's birthday, and it cut the limbs for our fire. It is light in weight and easy to operate, but sharp enough to cut stubborn branches. It's a must for small jobs.

5. USA Camping Two Tone Rubberized 11 Inch

USA Camping Two Tone Rubberized 11 Inch

If you take care of your mini tactical axe and they take care of you, they will consider repairs and replacements for your properly maintained SOG Voodoo Hawk tomahawk hatchet. The tactical axe is portable and great for camping. The blade is finished in 440 steel. The rubber handle is comfortable. When not in use, the black nylon sheath covers the blade. 11-inch overall length.

Brand: Mtech Usa

👤I was using this product to cut some small logs, but the connection between the blade and handle broke, and I had to use another product. I was fortunate that my dog and I were not hit by the hatchet head. The hatchet was in good condition and was not used in any other way than it was intended for. The product's sales image led me to believe that the metal split into two thin rods after entering the handle, and I was annoyed to see that.

👤This hatchet is terrible. The handle is not comfortable, the head is too thick, and the blade is fat. It came slightly bent. The blade on this hatchet is so aggressive that it doesn't bite into the wood at all, it just kind of bounces out of the cut. The head is too thick to get a less aggressive grind without removing a lot of material. It's too heavy, making it feel clumsy in the hand, and that's only worsened by the fact that it's bent just so slightly, so your cuts will almost never land how you want them. The handle doesn't do enough to absorb the impact of the hits so it gets painful to use. $5 more and you can get a hatchet that's worth it. The only reason it's 2 stars and not 1 is because it didn't hurt me.

👤The word "China" is written in small letters next to the blade where the handle and blade are joined. Thanks to my eye doctor, I have some awesome glasses. There is no mention of Made in the USA on the box. It says it was designed in the USA. The axe is sharp, but hasn't been used yet? It was bought for the campfire. I'll be back to update this review if it comes apart as some reviewers say it has. It wasn't made in the USA. We were going to return it, but there was going to be a 20% restocking fee. This whole thing stinks. We'll keep the axe and use it until it falls apart. If you want to know if Made in the USA products are important to you, just keep looking. This is only used in the US. I knew the price was too good to be true, and the little word "China" that appears on this axe is proof that the company, MTech, is just being clever with their wording and advertisement.

👤I love this axe. Good feeling in hand. Does what it is supposed to do. The wood was chopped small to medium. The sheath was the reason I didn't give it 5 stars. The sheath is just that. If you are not careful, the head of the axe can wiggle out of the sheath if you are not careful. If you are listening to Mtech, a small change to the sheath is possible. You have the perfect product. Mtech, keep up the great work!

👤I didn't notice the ax in my bag. The handle is light, which can lead to some balance issues, but since it's a hatchet, not much of a problem. The handle seems sturdy and I chop it with a hammer, dropping it, and of course, chopping. I did not have to sharpen the head while in the field. It was easy to attach to my bag. The money is worth it.

Brand: Blade City

👤It was bought as a throwing axe. Will take time to get used to. I used it to break down some firewood and it did a good job. It's great so far and I'm looking forward to using it.

👤Canes with some damage to the hammer are cheap, but the blade is sharp.

👤Really like it. Came very sharp. I put a sharper edge on it. Stays alert. I feel good in my hands. When sweat or water got on the handle, it was an easy fix. I put a loop at the end of the handle for my wrist. Part of my camping kit.

👤I throw axes for a living and this one is lightweight and gorgeous. The sheath is well-made.

👤Good metal grade didn't crack. The handle has bolts on it. It was almost lost showing it to a friend.

👤The item arrived on time and was described in the ad. Will have to see how it works out.

👤Quality is very good, just the right size.

👤The sheath is cheap and not designed for this axe. The axe is light weight, the handle fits in your hand, and the bolts are tight. I haven't used an axe yet. The hammer end adds force to each strike.

Estwing Special Sportsmans Axe Construction

Their tools are made in the USA using the finest American steel. Their tools are made in the USA using the finest American steel.

Brand: Estwing

👤The little hatchet is great, but it comes from the manufacturer. I need to remove the stupid sticker that takes 15 minutes to remove and then make a new one so the handle isn't all sticky with stuff. Needed? Is it a sticker? Right on the hatchet. I'm not the first person to use the hatchet and remove the sticker, but I'm not the last person to do so, so I'm going to write about it. Poor planning by you people. Fix it. A small piece of plastic like those used on clothes with a warning label does the job, comes off with a snap, and no mess. Think! The hatchet. Solid. It works. It does what it is supposed to, but it gets sticky on your hands. The size is adequate. Good balance. Good design. cuts wood. It's easy to store the hatchet in a sheath and still use the other side as a hammer. If you want to enjoy this hassle and sticky-crud-on your hand, you should buy this and a bottle of goo gone.

👤I am very disappointed with the axe and the lack of quality. I ordered it to be received just in time for my boyfriend's birthday so returning it now and getting another one is meaningless, it takes away from the surprise and excitement of him even owning a throwing axe. Who knows when the blade will snap off and hurt someone, and the handle has gaps that are concerning. The handle has a lot of chips in it and the protective coating on it is chipping so it looks like garbage. I am embarrassed that I had him open this on his birthday. I am so upset with this purchase.

👤One of the other reviewers told me to sand off the varnish on the handle with 100 grit sand paper. I rubbed the oil on it for three days. It takes some time to put on about 30 coats. The results are worth it. The real difference is in how it feels after the pictures have been taken. The handle is a bit more comfortable in my hand.

👤Poor craftsmanship! I was very excited to have this axe. I knew I was returning it when I opened the box. There are little chips on the blade. My description said 14 but I barely reached 13 The leather handle and clear coat have defects. It seems like a knock if it has Estwing stickers on it. The case is a joke, after unbuttoning you have to pull the handle through the little opening. You can't rely on good reviews. I am going to Home Depot to look for something.

👤For the first time since purchasing, I used this hatchet for less than 20 minutes. The bottom plate is already loose, and the blade dulled practically instantly, just from cutting wood. The return window has passed since I did not go camping after buying it. A similar hatchet from the same company has been great for a friend. This one is a total waste of money. Don't buy it.

TACTICAL SURVIVAL AXE & HAMMER - All blacked out hatchets for camping and survival axe designed to blend into your gear and environment. A lightweight and versatile tool with a flat back head that is perfect for driving stakes, acting as a hammer in the field.

Brand: 7th Science Gear

👤I have thrown a lot of tools, including axes, knives, and darts. The expected weight was a bit heavier than expected, which was fine as a heavy hatchet can cut well. It took me several hours to get the blade sharp enough to be worth something, and I had to cut 4' to 8' wood. The head of the hatchet is heavier than the other end, so it's important to hit the blade first. The back of the head is heavier than the blade end, which causes the hatchet to be off balance and takes a technique to hit the blade first. This is a better hammer than a throwing tool.

👤The angle of the blade is not as narrow as it would be if it were stuck into wood easily. It's like throwing a hammer. It was difficult to get pictures that were representative. The first two pictures show how quickly the blade widens and how fat the edge and head are. The third picture is a shot of an axe throwing blade that has a thin edge. It sticks to the wood.

👤The hatchet was built to be well built all around. I put it in my emergency kit because I wanted to learn how to axe throw. I've told others to buy it because it's a great hatchet.

👤There was no sharp blade on this ax. It bounced off the board many times. The axes were supposed to be stuck. This is a better point than my maul for splitting wood. It took an entire 20 watt battery to get it to this point.

👤It is lightweight and durable, and it is also versatile. It is portable with a quality sheath. I put it in my bag.

👤Nice axe! I would have liked a little more weight on it. The logo on the side was messed up. If it doesn't hit a target, it bounces a lot. We will see how long it lasts. It has to hit the point of the axe with a thinner blade than some axes.

👤I like everything from a hunter to a camper and my wife loves this more than I do.

👤The fiberglass handle is similar to weathering wood designs. No fancy cutouts or etching, just everything you need to drive a stake, chop down small trees, make firewood chips, and anything else you don't need like bottle openers. The steel is thick, heavy and capable. This is a steal for the money.

9. Extraction Tactical Spearpoint Rubberized Survival

Extraction Tactical Spearpoint Rubberized Survival

It isdurable: The blade is made of reliable 420 STAINLESS STEEL with a black rubber handle. It's permissible. The sheath is black and easy to use. The blade will not slip with the security of the finger grooves and choil. The knife has a sawback edge on the spine of the blade and a lanyard hole.

Brand: Smith & Wesson

👤I am an axe thrower and this thing exceeds expectations, came ridiculously sharp, I was amazed, I sliced slowly through a water bottle, paper, etc and it did it cleanly. This axe is great for throwing, it will destroy a target in minutes, I can destroy 2 targets in a single 30 minute throw session. If you were debating like I was, buy it.

👤Overall good. The hard nature of the steel makes it difficult to sharpen. If you get this, you need a bench grinder or belt sander. The rubber on the bottom of the handle split when the handle hit it.

👤Another fine product from the S&W family. I tell them to buy a S&W Sporter II. The S&W tomahawk is not a throwing hawk. I've used mine to cut through thickets. A heavy hawk should hold a edge. It's perfect for the carhartt duckwashed pants hammer loop.

👤The otem was immediately returned because it was printed in China.

👤It is being used for axe throwing. Very sharp on both ends. Attaches to wood with ease. Light. Unlike other brands, after about 100 throws, the throws are still in one piece. The rubber handle is not that durable. Its falling apart from falling on the grass. It is still usable.

👤They could be a hole in the handle for the cord. I think it makes a better tomahawk. A simple hawk with no frills, no holes, and no gut hooks. You will need to sharpen it.

👤I got this to use as a throwing hatchet because I kept splitting the wood handles on mine and I was hoping the integrated one piece handle would hold up. If the handle hits the ground, the rubber/padding on the handle will split and rip. I wrapped the handle in tape to make sure it worked. Balance is held well when throwing. I did a quick sharpening after I got it.

👤This hatchet is very rugged and has a full tang. It was pretty sharp. The handle is adequate, but I wish it was bigger. Maybe it was made for smaller hands. The rest of the build is larger than the handle. I can fix the handle with a wrap if I find it uncomfortable.

10. Tyger TG SV8U3217 Multifunction Off Roading Survivalist

You can carry the shovel in the bag.

Brand: Tyger Auto

👤This is a very cool shovel. I wanted to put this to the test, but it didn't work out. The bolt fell apart when I flipped up the shovel. I think it's due to the poor quality of the metal. If I had to use this on the trail, what would happen if the bolt broke out of the box? It was an epic failure. The features and accessories are built to be thought out. The sleek aluminum handle feels great in your hands. The shovel's blade is well designed and sharp. I don't understand why a company would use a poor quality bolt to hold a fine unit together. The vendor should replace the unit. If they do, I will update my review. If the bolt held up, I could see this as a 5 star unit. I tried to get in touch with the seller to get a new bolt. I was disappointed in the lack of customer service.

👤I drive a small, off-road capable vehicle and I wanted a multi-functional shovel for camping and general use. The shovel is light and fits in the back of my car. Every component is sturdy and looks great.

👤After using it for the first time. The quality is terrible, but I like the overall package.

👤There were a few different folding showels. The one that proved to be the best was this one. The style of locking mechanism is stronger and more secure than the screw type locking mechanism.

👤I almost didn't order this shovel because of a couple of negative reviews. The company responded to the reviews and stated that they stand behind their products. I decided to give it a try because I noticed that most of the reviews were positive. Best decision. I am very pleased with the tool. It is a high quality product. I put it to the test after taking it out. I started cutting and digging with it. It was perfect. I can't find anything I don't like on it. It is very easy to use and feels very solid in my hands. I was impressed. The case that comes with it is made from thick cordura with wide, strong zippers. Wasn't expecting that...Bonus! Just order it if you are on the fence like me. The survival shovel is amazing.

👤This is very sturdy to begin with. It's very easy to carry once broken down. The features are a little ridiculous for camping. It was too much effort to use the saw for something larger than an inch. The hatchet blade was the same. Only once, but could not get a spark from the magnesium wand. I hope I never have the reason to use whistle. I haven't tried the ice pick yet, but I don't want to camp in the snow. I keep this in my jeep at all times, so who knows. If you plan to buy a saw, hatchet, knife, or other item for regular use, you are buying the wrong product.

11. Sanyi Chopping Splitting Kindling Supplies

Sanyi Chopping Splitting Kindling Supplies

Their tools are made in the USA using the finest American steel. Full length: 15inches; blade length: 4.13inches; and head length: 5.9inches. Handle length is 12.59inches, head weight is 560g, and overall weight is 800g. The camping axe has a shorter handle that is 14 inches in length. It means business when splitting and chopping logs. It's handy when making wood. The handle is easy to use. The curved handle on the axe feels a little more natural. It is useful for light duty and minor chopping and splitting. It's ideal to bring along with you on camping trips. The steel head of the axe widens upward in a fan shape from the center. The shape of the axe head allows it to split firewood in half. The blade is protected by a leather cover. The edge of the blade is very sharp and can break the cover. Please be careful. The axe cannot be used directly. It arrives fairly blunt and will require some sharpening before it is cut through. If you lightly sharpen the axe blade before or after use, it will keep it in top shape. The wooden handle and blade of your axe should be kept in a dry room. The axe is good enough to tackle even small trees, as well as perform other small tasks like clearing trail, bushcraft or getting the wood ready for a campfire. The axe isn't meant for cutting down big trees. The small size makes it easy to carry and fit in the bag.

Brand: Sanyi

👤Good value. I used the rag method tosharpen. Dremel the handle. The para cord is used for hanging. Style n Craft applied oil to the leather cover which made it tan to brown. I used boiled linseed oil after cutting the handle. It feels great to have a fun project.

👤The metal doesn't feel too soft and the cheap hatchet is usable. It is easy to fix. It's junk when it comes in. Sanded off the varnish. It will do the job without costing an arm and a leg. It has a metal 0 ring pounding into the eye of the head, so hopefully the head doesn't fly off when chopping, has some decent hand purchase, and a neck swell. There was a lanyard hole. I would recommend someone who needs a budget friendly hatchet. If they both do their job, you just have a prettier hatchet.

👤I painted the handle red and wrapped the paracord after the hatchet came with an unfinished handle. The head is sharp and the sheath is cheap.

👤Good little tool. The handle was a bit slick and shiney. I wrapped it in paracord. I only refined it to be a smooth cutting edge. A hatchet can be used to split fire wood or knock small branches from bigger logs without being razor sharp. Only when a felled tree requires a razor sharp edge on an axe is it necessary. You don't use a hatchet for that. I took it camping. It did well. It works fine for the intended purpose, as long as you have a hatchet to work with.

👤The price is right for this hatchet. The head is not a big deal. It was relatively sharp. The hatchet makes short work of wood and forearm logs. The grain of the wood isn't straight and has some small knots, that's the only thing that bugs me. For $25, the grain is not a big deal. I was very happy with the purchase.

👤I rejected most hatchets I saw listed for camping. Bad reviews were often the reason for that. Even though I don't use my hatchet often, I wanted it to be reliable if it was needed. I camp as a solo female and try to stay legal as in carry bucket, shovel, now hatchet and fire extinguisher. I've had the bucket and shovel for a long time, but my husband offered me more ax to take along. It's too big for me to handle. I have camped for years and am looking to update to a small used Class B Van but they want you to carry all of the items. It's wildfire season in the upper NW Rockies almost every year. So. Oh yes. I want to comply. I've found campsites abandoned by fellow campers with raging fires in the fire rings. I always put out the smoke when I find it. If you pakring your car on the side of the dirt road, you need to be prepared for fire problems in a dry year. Santa gave me a Hatchet this year and my husband said he'd sharpen it for me. A really good quality too fire extenquisher. I plan to buy a set of four fire blankets as well because I think one or two might be a better choice for the few fires I've actually encountered to quickly end it's progress. The extenguisher is better than the shovel and dirt. The dirt is often rock and little to throw. I don't have to worry about hiking with an extinguisher and I can put 1-2 blankets in a back pack. If ever needed, this has a replaceable handle. I'm very happy. I found it. I'm happy to have all my gear updated, and Tent campers should consider that if they use any type of heater in a tent and also a matching mini smoke alarm. I'm going to get an older Mini Camper Van and use it as a tent camper too. Hubby has never camped. I enjoy camping alone but there are national clubs for ladies who like company for ladies only. Several of us up here who are not into camping are working towards developing a foot loose support group and caravan about via our own personal mini mo's. Be sure to hatchet over all and recommend. Yes, it is likely that you need sharpening. You can buy a file if you need to, but all hatchets will need to be sharpened at some point. Find a husband, brother, father, or girl friend that knows how. When I worked in CO, I had a file to keep my hoe sharp, and everyone had borrowed it or handed me their hoes to sharpen. I can also sharpen my own hatchet. Any girl who is worthy of being a girl is going to accept if you have a sweet husband. Maybe not all. I'm a little lazy in my 70's, but I appreciate the help.
