Brand: Watchfire

👤A small ax. The handle is great. I chopped the branches from the weed that was growing into a tree because of the heavy weight. All the branches were cut. I couldn't believe how well it sliced it down. I was done in 15 minutes. I use an electrical cutter. This was very easy. This will work on branches in the field. It works great for landscape maintenance and that makes this tool a good purchase. Very sharp from the manufacturer. After I wasfi iahed, I sharpened it even more. Can't wait to see what else it does.

👤I bought this for its size and price. I read that mine was dull, but it was not necessary to sharpen it. I carry it to help blaze and maintain narrow trails in the woods. If you need a small and light axe for hiking or hunting, it is a good choice. If you are a camper, you will want a bigger ax to harvest the wood more easily. This is a good buy if you are back packer. There are a lot of good hatchets. I chose this for its low cost and low weight. A heavy canvas sheath and a fat hand grip can be used to prevent accidental injuries.

👤It is what it is. I bought it for my son. Even with some sharpening, it's not really a tool. This is not a hatchet or bushcraft work.

👤A small blade by your side. It is easy to cut down bows and branches, but not great for chopping. I'm not surprised by it's limitations because it only weighs 11 ounces. This is a cheap axe and the sheath feels cheap. The blade came pretty sharp, but I had to use a sharpening puck to shave off hairs from my arm. It holds an advantage as well. I used it all weekend and it's still sharp so I can put it back in its sheath. The bees knees are on the back of the axe. I didn't have a shovel and I needed to build a fire pit, but the axe tore up the ground like it was made of jello.

👤It's useful for the hardwoods that are up to an inch to an inch and a half diameter, but it still takes a few strikes to cut through the branches. It becomes a chore when you get over an inch and a half. You will need to cut the chunks out of the branch until you can get the blade through it. Splitting logs? Forget it. I bought this knowing it was a light hatchet. I wanted something that I could easily carry and not weigh my gear down. I didn't know how much work it would take to cut through it. If I had to do it again, I would probably get something with a little more weight and length, and maybe a log that can split when I need some kindling.

👤This hatchet is very small and light. This is a huge plus if you don't want to carry a heavy hatchet. Don't expect to split big oak logs with this thing. It will split up the branches and cut them down. This works well if you are looking for that. It is made well for what it is. It's a good gift for a Boy Scout. The design of the sheath caused it to fall apart on the first day of use. The hatchet blade rests against the threads that hold the two halves together. Keep the hatchet for light work.

Brand: Talximuk

👤It works well. The shaft will hold up through the years because of the strength of the wood. The blade was not sharp and needs some care out of the box. Even with a dull blade, chops are good.

Brand: Jxe Jxo

👤This is a great camping axe, it is not assembled when it arrives, but it is a great axe. I chose the pick at the opposite end, instead of the hammer on their other axe. I have other sharp tools. Their quality is always excellent. Everything is made with the best materials. The camping axe is a great example of high quality. The edges are sharp. The handles are strong. The sheaths are made to protect the tool and you. Five stars.

👤It's not bad for what you pay for. It is not a throwing axe. It doesn't have the weight that it needs. There is a The plastic handle made it bounce or spring to it. It can stick, but it is not what it was intended to be. A good tool for camping.

👤I threw it at the log. The handle was shattered by the second throw. The axe is cool. It is worthless. The holes in the axe head don't match up with the ones in the shaft so it was difficult to assemble. Solid throwing axes are not worth a purchase.

👤I received this tomahawk as a birthday present and was warned that the handle was junk. I went for this axe because I thought people were just using it. The handle snapped in half as I threw it at my target, and it broke on the first hour. I put hotglue on it to make it work again. I know it wouldn't fix it. When I ordered a replacement handle, the estimated delivery was 1 month, when you can just buy another one of these tomahawk and they come in 3 days. I don't know what the problem is. I just want a decent handle, I'm really dissapointed in this axe, I don't think I'm asking for much.

👤The plastic handle is not good. Get one that has a full length blade.

👤I gave this as a gift to someone who is an avid ax thrower. The first one missed the target and broke on impact. He threw the second one, which landed the target and broke immediately on impact. If you expect to use them more than once, don't buy this product. I hope to get a full refund for this purchase.

👤I was slightly disappointed with the quality of the handle and hardware. The axe head is not tested for chopping yet, but it is nice looking and useful for picking and chopping. They say it is a throwing axe. I haven't tried it yet but I am a little skeptical of it throwing worthiness. The feel of holding the axes in my hands is similar to what East Wing axes do. I will update after I throw it. If you thread lock the hardware, which you need two Allen keys for and they provide one, you can get the holes lined up and use it as an axe. If you don't mind a textured plastic handle, that's fine. It looks mean and clean.

4. WICING Throwing Construction Anti Slip Reduction

WICING Throwing Construction Anti Slip Reduction

The outdoor camping hatchet is a great gift for your friends and family who love camping. They will be impressed by your choice if you give them this gift. Size and weight are important. The overall length of the camp hatchet is 14 and the blade length is 3.15. The construction is durable. The silver high-carbon steel used in their hatchet is not easy to rust. A good edge is kept easily sharpened. The handle is anti-slip and shock absorption. The curved TPR soft handle is shock absorbent and reduces hand strain, making it easy to swing with one or two hands. The camp axe is easy to carry and safe to store. It's lightweight and easy to wear on a belt, it's a great tool for hiking and camping. The camping hatchet is a great gift for the outdoor enthusiast in your life.

Brand: Wicing

👤I usually use hatchets on kindling and smaller wood projects. The grooves in the handle made these not ideal for throwing. The handles are comfortable and come with a bit of polish. They come with nylon blade covers and metal surfaces wrapped in plastic. Edges are not perfect. I don't see any major problems with them so far.

👤The axe is made of soft steel. Don't try to hit the back of it with another axe.

👤I want to try this because I was dissatisfied with my little Ned. It was much better, longer and heavier. Solid steel. The rubber on the handle is slipping. I saw a larger ax at a sporting goods store. The design is similar but larger than you would find at a throwing establishment.

👤The product seems good. In case of an emergency, I bought it to keep in my car. The product looks used, so I am giving it three stars. It has a few small nicks in the metal. I don't want you to have to go through the hassle of returning or replacing it, but be aware that you may not be getting a new item.

👤The handles are only lightly glue in, and they are a full tang construction. The axes came out of the handles after a few uses. The steel is good, so I need to redo the handles.

👤The handle on my sons' axes flew off after my husband and son threw their axes. The handles are in different places.

👤The axe is fairly heavy and sturdy despite some scratches and the handle not being in my aesthetic domain. It will fit both tactical and tooling.

👤It was bought for throwing. The handles keep sliding off.

5. Hooren Throwing Tomahawk Survival Tactical

Brand: Hooren

👤First throw broke. The handle is easy to break. This isn't for longevity. I was very disappointed in what I spent. If you want to use it for what it says, do not buy it.

👤There is no complaint about what was advertised.

Brand: Off Grid Tools

👤The strap cannot be secured to the Survival Axe because it is too short. It cannot be secured to the Truckers Friend. Both axes are from the USA model. The black leather sheath is fine. I would assume the tan one does as well. The nylon sheath is compatible with the survival. Well, hit well. I'm returning it. The OGT Survival Knife is cool, but unreviewed, un-reviewed, and its operation is not easy or safe. I would like to review that but no option exists. The quality control area has some work to be done by OGT.

👤I thought the first one I ordered was faulty. The holding strap was too short and there was no way to snap it. I had Amazon replace it with the same sheath thinking it was better than the original. Guess what? The holding strap on the second sheath is too short. The time and effort that it takes to secure the strap is ridiculous, unless you have fingers like a gorilla or a nylon stretcher. I tried a pair of pliers, but they couldn't reach it. This design needs to be changed. I'm returning the second Kydex sheath for the leather sheath. Hopefully it will be enjoyable.

👤It works perfectly. The sheath is more durable than the nylon tool. The company had an optional sheath for this heavy duty tool.

👤This is a no-brainer if you have the axe. The axe's sheath does not allow for a versatile mounting option.

👤Works as described and comes with an awesome clip.

👤It seems designed for a left hander. There is no way to hang it because it is mounted on the right side.

👤It also fits the Off Grid Tools.

👤A nice sheath for an axe. Carries well. It's easy to remove/reinsert.

The outdoor camping hatchet is a great gift for your friends and family who enjoy hiking or hunting. They will be impressed by your choice if you give them this gift. ESEE Gibson Axe is a small, compact axe that can fit in a backpack. The head width is 4.5 and the weight is 20.5 ounces. The head is made of 1095 High Carbon Steel with a hardness of 55-57 RC. Black Oxide Stone Washed is finished with Leather and Sculptured Micarta. "Lifetime Guarantee", made in the USA, "best in the industry."

Brand: Esee

👤I am not a fan of this axe and I will hate the people who hate me for daring to form my opinion. The build quality is good, typical Esee fashion, and the edges always come sharp with near pefect grinds. There were no problems there. The price for a slab of 1095 is just plain overpriced. The GB Wildlife is a better feeling tool, and I suggest it for the same price. The mines were lightly used. If the tool is worth a replacement but I'm not returning it, there are better options out there. I received a used item, but it was not the reason for the 2 stars, I think the axe have limited uses, poor handle design, and basic materials that don't add up to its price. The edge geometry of a carving axe is not very good and it is not a good splitter since it is too thin.

👤This is exactly what I wanted and I gave 5 stars. Let me get to some useful information. The edge is 3 inches. The factory grind is used for chopping and cutting. The handle may not be the most comfortable for some people. The axe is light and easy to handle, making it ideal for hiking or just a morning out exploring. The Esee axe is designed for light work. It's not a single handed destroyer. I used the axe to chop Mesquite branches that were up to 2 inches thick. It was easy toPruning the branches. I was impressed with its carving ability. It performed better than expected. I was able to make a stop cut. I live in the desert so most things are small and dry. This is the perfect tool for outdoor use. I rate this axe very well for camp chores and light work. A perfect hiking companion. You have everything you need with this axe and Swiss Army Knife. It is a medium to large hatchet replacement. The weight and size keep it from being heavy.

👤The design is balanced for multi purpose use. This is a good tool to use in place of a large belt knife. This is not a good tool to build a log cabin. The utility of this axe will be dependent on your expectations. My use has been for a variety of camp tasks, including carving, processing pitchwood, feeding a stick stove, and making kindling inside a hot tent, as well as a companion to a large axe or small knife and saw. The pattern on the handle will be either like it or hate it. I like the texture and feedback from it. The designer has a few videos explaining the design. The rocker, head, thumb push, and shorter handle scales eliminate damage when splitting. The videos are good for study. This is one of my favorite axes. Quality materials and a lifetime warranty from an established company make this item.

👤This axe blew my mind. After camping for the first time and handling it for 10 minutes, I fell in love with this axe. The big pine branch that fell was broken up. The axe was about 6 inches in diameter and it just went through in a matter of seconds. The test was that. I was cutting a 4 inch branch. It goes through it. After carving with the axe and making stakes for my tarp, I still have arm hair on my arm. It was difficult to pay the money. It's worth every penny. I like how small it is. Even when you choke up to carve, it's very comfortable to hold. I'm a big fan of ESEE. 6 people love the knives that I have a ESEE 3. ESEE is my favorite Bush company.

8. HX OUTDOORS Mercenarys Multifunctional Explosion Proof

HX OUTDOORS Mercenarys Multifunctional Explosion Proof

High quality products. Off Grid Tools has the latest and greatest outdoor tools that are functional, versatile, high quality, and innovative. During long adventures hiking, hunting, fishing, and camping, put survival in the palm of your hand. There is a shoddy proof. It is built for any situation. The axe is rugged enough to survive in the wilderness. The sheath is free to keep the blade sharp when not in use. STAINLESS STEEL. The blade is made from a type of steel that is resistant to rust. This axe is versatile and has a hammer and pry tool. There is a risk free warranty. They will replace or refund your purchase if you don't like it.

Brand: Hx Hx Outdoors

👤I have not been offered any compensation by HX Outdoors, Amazon, or any other company for my opinions regarding this product. The axe is an awesome tool, and it's 100% usable straight out of the box. The great This axe is a great buy, as compared to other brands in the same style, at a listed price of $79.99. The length is great for being able to get good swing leverage, there are finger grooves on the head for lighter shaving and shaping tasks. The advantage is that you won't break the head of the axe by hitting something with the hammer pad, unlike a cast/badly-forged axe. This axe is better for longevity and reliability because it is FULL tang. I don't know what they're for, but they're going to be used for a lanyard on my lanyard. The fit of the head sheath is great, and can be adjusted to fit any position. The design of the cutting edges is incredibly useful for different types of cutting tasks, but at first glance it appears to be function-less. The use of the scales is a good choice, but the ergonomics are not good, HX made a good attempt at indicating holding positions, but the overall feel of the scales is not comfortable. They are sharp to the touch, but can be corrected by sanding them down for a few minutes. I don't think I will use it much, but the addition of a multi-size wrench is nice. Maybe I will. The pry bar is well-shaped and will be useful if I need one. The screws that came in the axe handle are not black-oxide coated as one might think. They are painted black. The solvent in the glue reacted with the paint on the screws, creating a nasty congealed mess under the screw heads. I removed the screws and posts and the material was a bit melted from the excess glue in the laminate. I cleaned it all off because it was horrible. I'm not entirely sure why they cheaped out on hardware and thread-lock, since they aren't expensive to begin with. I can't imagine HX would use painted screws and super-glue in lieu of Loc-Tite and black-oxide screws in order to make these in a volume. I'll be replacing the scales with rosewood, profiled to match the existing scales, and I'll be wrapping the handle in a style similar to Japanese Tsukamaki, with a leather over wood core, finished in silk or leather ito. The bamboo mekugi pins will probably be the same as the screws, since ito will keep everything together. I'll be adding menuki to the build as well. A 4-star tool. It's definitely solid, useful outdoors and cool-looking. The purchase price was well- worth it. I'm making a project out of my axe, but it's more than usable right out of the box. HX, please use black-oxide screws and thread-lock. I have not been offered any compensation for my opinions regarding this product.

👤The axe came as a shock. Also, well built. It took 2 months to ship from China, but I'm not a stickler for tools. That is due to not having a prime option. It performed as expected after being tested out. It's in my camping bag. This thing is awesome.

9. 7th Science Gear Throwing Axe

7th Science Gear Throwing Axe

TACTICAL SURVIVAL AXE & HAMMER - All blacked out hatchets for camping and survival axe designed to blend into your gear and environment. A lightweight and versatile tool with a flat back head that is perfect for driving stakes, acting as a hammer in the field.

Brand: 7th Science Gear

👤I have thrown a lot of tools, including axes, knives, and darts. The expected weight was a bit heavier than expected, which was fine as a heavy hatchet can cut well. It took me several hours to get the blade sharp enough to be worth something, and I had to cut 4' to 8' wood. The head of the hatchet is heavier than the other end, so it's important to hit the blade first. The back of the head is heavier than the blade end, which causes the hatchet to be off balance and takes a technique to hit the blade first. This is a better hammer than a throwing tool.

👤The angle of the blade is not as narrow as it would be if it were stuck into wood easily. It's like throwing a hammer. It was difficult to get pictures that were representative. The first two pictures show how quickly the blade widens and how fat the edge and head are. The third picture is a shot of an axe throwing blade that has a thin edge. It sticks to the wood.

👤The hatchet was built to be well built all around. I put it in my emergency kit because I wanted to learn how to axe throw. I've told others to buy it because it's a great hatchet.

👤There was no sharp blade on this ax. It bounced off the board many times. The axes were supposed to be stuck. This is a better point than my maul for splitting wood. It took an entire 20 watt battery to get it to this point.

👤It is lightweight and durable, and it is also versatile. It is portable with a quality sheath. I put it in my bag.

👤Nice axe! I would have liked a little more weight on it. The logo on the side was messed up. If it doesn't hit a target, it bounces a lot. We will see how long it lasts. It has to hit the point of the axe with a thinner blade than some axes.

👤I like everything from a hunter to a camper and my wife loves this more than I do.

👤The fiberglass handle is similar to weathering wood designs. No fancy cutouts or etching, just everything you need to drive a stake, chop down small trees, make firewood chips, and anything else you don't need like bottle openers. The steel is thick, heavy and capable. This is a steal for the money.

Brand: Yeacool

👤I was comparing it to the Yeacool shovel when I bought it. I was surprised that it provided the same structure and toolset as the shovel. This is a survival multi-tool, not designed for hours of chopping and splitting logs. This will get it done in a situation where you need to take down a small tree or cut some arm sized logs. You have to keep the handle tight as it is threaded. The added O-rings made it water tight. More testing should show if it is waterproof or water resistant. The compass was accurate. A compass that is imported and inexpensive reminds me of a child's play set. I compared the reading to my field compass and it was spot on. This is a multi-purpose survival tool that I would recommend to someone. The only downside is that it does not have an all in one carrying case like the shovel, but instead it has a belt loop on the axe sheath. There is a chance of losing a part or getting dirt in the threads if I were to break it down for a smaller axe.

👤The product was well packaged. The ax head is heavy enough to chop but not heavy enough to carry or pack. The ax has a welded-on flat section for hammering on the butt. The handle is broken into 4 sections. The threads are cut cleanly. The O-rings keep dirt and water out of the handle. Knurling on the handle makes for a secure grip, even came with a camo wrap that can be used as a bandage. Attachments are securely stored in the handle and threaded. The sheath is made of nylon that is riveted. I'm very happy. If you want a quality camping/survival ax, the price is right. It included a nice sharpener.

👤Kindling for 3 days. The hammer side of the axe snapped off when the compass fell off. I was not happy with my purchase.

👤I like that this is not heavy but strong and balanced. I had a problem with the whistle and contacted the seller and they responded quickly and shipped a new one to me. I will get more for my sons. They like how it feels.

👤A good multi-tool. I don't know how much I would trust the axe to do a lot of work, but that's probably not what you're buying it for anyways. It is great for odd jobs and I trust it for defense as well. The handle tape is very good and the tools work well.

👤I bought this for backpacking and it is not too heavy. It is not made of tooling steel so the edge on the blade will dull fairly fast but if it was durable the hammer side might chip on use and there is always some give and take when going for multi-purpose and this hits a good balance.

👤I really like this tool. I was able to keep bandages, steel wool, sand paper, and duct tape in the tube, as well as all the other tools already included. The axe is high quality and the blade holds an edge well, the sharpener it comes with is a great addition to my hiking bag. I will be buying from this company again as their customer service is great, and they replaced the head case quickly when I had an issue with it.

They will take care of you if you take care of your camp axes and hatchets. They will take care of you if you take care of your camp axes and hatchets.

Brand: Sog Specialty Knives

👤The ax has a boomerang effect, but it is not clear from the description. It will return to you in a neat elliptical pattern if you throw it the right way. I was able to catch the return after 15 minutes of practice. Be careful. You can take an ax to the head if you're not expecting it. I lost two friends in one weekend and both thought they had mastered the ax. They took a hatchet to the face. I would recommend this to a friend.

👤Light weight, sturdy, and very sharp. I bought this hatchet for my 3.5 week camping trip with my kids from Texas, and it will be used all the way up to Montana and back. It was amazing. I wasn't paying attention when I was chopping up some kindling for the fire at Yellowstone. The tip of my finger was chopped off. It was a clean cut. I'm thankful that it was still sharp after use. I recommend this hatchet for all of your chopping needs.

👤The product only had to complaints. It was necessary to be retightened 2. I wish it was bigger. It's great if you wanted weekend warrior. There is a If you want to use this for actual expeditions in the real world, you might want to rethink.

👤This is a great SOG axe camp that deserves 5 stars. The sheath that SOG supplies with the axe is the basis for my rating. The sheath is a molded covering for the blade and has a rubber strap to hold it to the handle. Attaching the sheath to the axe is not easy. It's easy to cut yourself trying to attach a sheath, so I urge anyone using it to be very careful. I contacted SOG by email and asked if they made a safer belt sheath that I could purchase from other manufacturers, such as Eastwing. They said the supplied sheath is the only one they have. This is an excellent product, it simply deserves a better thought out sheath to make it safer to carry.

👤I like hatchets. I had to buy this one from SOG. It is small and lightweight. It is decent for its size and weight, but not great when it comes to chopping. A Schrade scaxe2 will chop circles around this hatchet. The SOG will be doubled by both of them with the same number of swings. The SOG is too light and the handle is too short, it's more of a utility tomahawk than a hatchet. It will stay in my collection, but it won't be a go when I want to chop it.

👤I agreed with the reviewer that the sheath was flimsy and dangerous. I found an old inside-the-belt pistol holster, a little "cut-and-paste", and now have a sturdy, safe, lightweight way to stick this on my belt. I cut off the end of the blade cover and gorilla-glued it inside the sheath.

👤I have beaten the hell out of this thing so far. Thought it would be of little use, but figured out that using it with a baton or knotted wood club is perfect. Chopping is very smooth. Taking my axe out of my pack. The tool weighs in at a pound. People need to know how to respect an edge while cutting themselves. The low profile cover design is great. A good one.
