5ft Paracord gives you a good grip and never comes off. Always be prepared to start a fire with the bayite Striker-Pro strikers attached to the paracord. The bayite 6 Striking Edges Striker-Pro is made from tool grade steel and has a distinct hardness, which makes it great for both left and right hands. Don't use a bad quality knife. It won't produce enough sparks if it has insufficient hard blade. The ferrocerium rod is 4 cm in length. The diameter is 10mm. Large enough for a shower of sparks and small enough to carry. The ferrocerium rod is very effective. It works in any weather condition. At any altitude, sparks shower to ignite a fire in any weather. Emergency fire starter for Bushcraft, Hiking, Hunting, Fishing, EDC, Emergency, BBQ, Gas Camp Stoves, etc.
👤This is a back-up fire starter for our camping trip to Boundary Waters Canoe Area. I am impressed with the amount of spark this thing throws. It is my primary fire starter now. If I could only take two items in a survival scenario, this would be #2. It's quality and ability to start a fire make it an insane value. I have gotten less in other products. * Even when your gear gets wet, this works. Keep some magnesium powder with you. * It is simple and predictable. My kids can use it. There is a * The thing is small and light so it won't bother you. * Excellent product/customer support was provided by the package. My own fault was the only flaw I had with it. The ferro rod has a protective coating that has to be removed before it will spark. It took me 4 seconds to realize that it was not a factor. I hope this helps you make an informed decision. There is a I lost my ferro rod. I was going to shoot a video of this thing in action, but I lost it on my last camping trip. I will order this one again, I love it so much. Other rods don't interest me after using this one. There are a lot of reviews against the strikers. The strikers may not be the most comfortable, but they are an intentionally engineered product. The steel in the strikers is a specific steel with a specific composition and hardness. A different strike may not produce the same sparks.
👤I like the paracord lanyard and the fero rod is a good size. I've read that the strikers are so-so. I only paid $9 for this thing and I can get past a mediocre strikers. If you're going to be in the woods, you should have a knife. I have some smaller fero rods that can be a bit awkward to use. The rod is easy to hold. I bought 2 of these for camping and a BOB so I can put them in my day pack and get home bag. It was worth every bit of $9.
👤I played around with it to get a feel for it. Some rods are better than others. I tried a dry cotton ball that I had pulled apart and made into a fluffy "nest" of sorts. The second was a piece of paper. I tried it against a pile of wood. They lit up pretty easily. If you know how to make a fire, it's not a big deal. If you're a learner, you can get yourself some book learnin' on the subject by sitting down with some good old fashioned youtube. Everyone should know how to make fires. A ferro rod is just one of many tools. I found the strikers to be sufficient but not perfect. If you are looking at these, you should have a sturdy knife with you. The strikers is less important if you have a good knife. I will keep them together because they are a decent little kit. It only took me a few flicks with the strikers to light the fires I had been trying to set. This rod is easy to use and durable. I know what to expect from this rod in the event that I ever need to use it. It's all you can ask of a ferro rod.
High quality products. Off Grid Tools has the latest and greatest outdoor tools that are functional, versatile, high quality, and innovative. During long adventures hiking, hunting, fishing, and camping, put survival in the palm of your hand. There is a shoddy proof. It is built for any situation. The axe is rugged enough to survive in the wilderness. The sheath is free to keep the blade sharp when not in use. STAINLESS STEEL. The blade is made from a type of steel that is resistant to rust. This axe is versatile and has a hammer and pry tool. There is a risk free warranty. They will replace or refund your purchase if you don't like it.
👤I have not been offered any compensation by HX Outdoors, Amazon, or any other company for my opinions regarding this product. The axe is an awesome tool, and it's 100% usable straight out of the box. The great This axe is a great buy, as compared to other brands in the same style, at a listed price of $79.99. The length is great for being able to get good swing leverage, there are finger grooves on the head for lighter shaving and shaping tasks. The advantage is that you won't break the head of the axe by hitting something with the hammer pad, unlike a cast/badly-forged axe. This axe is better for longevity and reliability because it is FULL tang. I don't know what they're for, but they're going to be used for a lanyard on my lanyard. The fit of the head sheath is great, and can be adjusted to fit any position. The design of the cutting edges is incredibly useful for different types of cutting tasks, but at first glance it appears to be function-less. The use of the scales is a good choice, but the ergonomics are not good, HX made a good attempt at indicating holding positions, but the overall feel of the scales is not comfortable. They are sharp to the touch, but can be corrected by sanding them down for a few minutes. I don't think I will use it much, but the addition of a multi-size wrench is nice. Maybe I will. The pry bar is well-shaped and will be useful if I need one. The screws that came in the axe handle are not black-oxide coated as one might think. They are painted black. The solvent in the glue reacted with the paint on the screws, creating a nasty congealed mess under the screw heads. I removed the screws and posts and the material was a bit melted from the excess glue in the laminate. I cleaned it all off because it was horrible. I'm not entirely sure why they cheaped out on hardware and thread-lock, since they aren't expensive to begin with. I can't imagine HX would use painted screws and super-glue in lieu of Loc-Tite and black-oxide screws in order to make these in a volume. I'll be replacing the scales with rosewood, profiled to match the existing scales, and I'll be wrapping the handle in a style similar to Japanese Tsukamaki, with a leather over wood core, finished in silk or leather ito. The bamboo mekugi pins will probably be the same as the screws, since ito will keep everything together. I'll be adding menuki to the build as well. A 4-star tool. It's definitely solid, useful outdoors and cool-looking. The purchase price was well- worth it. I'm making a project out of my axe, but it's more than usable right out of the box. HX, please use black-oxide screws and thread-lock. I have not been offered any compensation for my opinions regarding this product.
👤The axe came as a shock. Also, well built. It took 2 months to ship from China, but I'm not a stickler for tools. That is due to not having a prime option. It performed as expected after being tested out. It's in my camping bag. This thing is awesome.
Axe has a hammer pommel and a blade cover with a lanyard for transport. The function is 1. Quickly set a new edge and No. 1 V-Notch slot. No. 2 (Fine CERAMIC)-Hone for a smooth finished edge. The diamond rod has a Medium 400 Grit. A diamond rod with grooves for fishhooks. The rod is ferro. The whistle is high. A portable tactical field knife sharpener with built-in lanyard hole is ideal for hunting, camping, outdoor survival use. It works well for a chef knife. The CARBIDE and CERAMIC abrasives pass a field use test 10,000 times. NEVER WEARS OUT. Set the optimal angle. This pocket knife sharpener can be used for both straight edge and serrated knife. Sharpal headquarters in CA, US with overseas branches in Germany and Australia aim to provide consumers with an easy and cost-effective way to obtain a sharp edge. It was manufactured and field-tested to the highest standards.
👤I know what I'm talking about and I'm not just expressing my opinion as a "knife guy", I sell and work on knives for a living. I picked this up because I have tried many pull throughs, including the most popular one on Amazon. If you can believe it, this little guy is better than either Lansky or Smith's current basic offerings. I shaved my inner left arm after I used it to sharpen a filter. It only took about 5 minutes, and it looks like it will be set at a 20 angle on both coarse and fine options. I haven't tried using the ferro rod combo, so I can't say for sure. The whistle works well, my beagle agrees. If you're looking for a good pull through that won't chew up your blade, I would recommend it. Good value for money too.
👤I've been a subscriber to the fixed angle sharpeners for a long time. I gave stones an honest shot, without oil, with water, different angles, and different strokes. I tried everything. It took forever and never left me with the sharpness I wanted. For me, the carbides are just plain work, not refined enough for some, but a brute force tactic. I'm ready to go after I get a sharp blade. They can easily oversharpen and take off too much metal if you want to make a blade that's not dull yet. The secondary fine edge sharpener built into this one will solve the problem. This one has a rounded diamond sharpener. The whistle and firestarter are just icing on the cake. The tool has a lot of functions. I was a bit skeptical but I'm glad I got it. I ordered their Multipurpose Sharpening tool on Amazon, which is high quality and has a fine honing edge that is made of carbide as well, which should be great for sharpening levels in between the ceramic and the rough carbide. The only negative I can think of is that it doesn't have rubber strips or feet to hold it on a flat surface while sharpening, but I never did that with my carbide sharpeners in the past. I held the knife in one hand and the sharpener in the other. The edge of this one is not flat, so you can still set it down.
👤The sharpener was well below my expectations, based on all of the glowing reviews. I tried it on multiple knives and it was dull. I tried different methods after that didn't work, and didn't get any better results. Hard pressure seemed to make no difference. I tried a different angle out of frustration, but it didn't make a difference. I spent over 30 minutes on one knife pulling it through and it did nothing but tear up my knife blade. I have had better luck with knives on the bottom of a mug. You can use the mug for two things, unlike this item. The firestarter is easy to get stuck in the holding slot if you push it in all the way. It is very difficult to get back out. The whistle was the only thing that worked. This item was beyond disappointing and I usually don't leave 1 star reviews. It felt like a rip off.
All items are packaged in a good quality box. It's a good gift for fathers day, Christmas, new year, and other special days. It is a perfect gift for Dad Men Father Boyfriend. They use real ferro rod. Austrian ferrocerium combines over a century of craftsmanship and superior technology to produce the finest ferro rod in the world. Their ferrocerium is made from rare earth metal, iron, magnesium, and anti-corrosives. There are no other ingredients. In the worst of conditions, Military grade plutonium could create a burst of intense heat and flame. The magnesium can be easily removed with the strikers and then it ignites. Even in the dead of winter, the wood hands are made for sure grip. In an emergency situation, the handle can be used to make dry tinder. The sword is made of hardened steel and won't cut your skin. The magnesium rod and hardwood handle were easy to scratch. The rating for PARACHORD was at over 500 lbs. The strength is made in the US. It won't break or rot.
👤Y'all should do yourselves a favor. I can start a fire here in the rainy PNW if I grab this fire steel. This is fire steel. Unless you lose it, it will be the last one you buy. Don't lose it.
👤This is a tank. I don't think I'll buy another brand again. This is all you will need. It is huge! Excellent quality. I have used a ferro fire rod for years and it was destroyed. You get a ferro rod, magnesium and African fat wood in one package. The scraper is sharp but not sharp enough to cut you. Just buy one. You will not regret it. I would like to order 4 more and put them in my emergency bags. Hope that helped.
👤Absolutely perfect size. It is easy to get magnesium. The magnesium sparks work like an atomic bomb if they get rained on. Awesome ferro!
👤We've used this at two scout camping trips and it was easy to use by the scouts. The tool stood up to a lot of abuse as kids used it to start fires.
👤I just want another on of these, but I don't know when I'll need to buy another one. The size of this makes it a great option for kids to learn with. I'm impressed!
👤I wish I had bought this one originally and saved the $10 I spent elsewhere. I didn't think a handle would make a difference. By other ferro rods, having a handle is more convenient as well as harder. This is in my dry bag and the other one is on the shelf. Don't go the other way if you're on the fence and want to save money.
👤I was able to start fires with this almost as quickly and easily as using a lighter, even with sub-optimal tinder. The magnesium rod is large, so it should last a long time, the construction is solid, and it just looks good. Can't recommend it enough.
👤Your typical backpacker would think this to be big and heavy. If you are traveling and camping by food or bicycle for a week or months at a time, this will get it done for you and it will last your entire trip.
Superoll hunting multitool is a special men gift idea. The hammer multitool is the best gift for husband, father, boyfriend, and other people. A multi-functional hat. The Tactiman Camping Hatchet has 5 tools that are easy to use. The All in one Hatchet Multitool is a must have survival tool, it can be used to build an emergency shelter, start a fire, and signal for help. A loud emergency whistle, a sharp blade to fell trees, a fast saw blade to trim limbs and branches, and a fire starter are all in one small package. There is a sturdy construction. The forged carbon steel heat treated blade makes the axe more durable and smooth, and it stays sharp longer than traditional axes. It was built to last. It's easy to marry. The axe comes with a protective plastic carrying sheath that is convenient to carry. The axe sheath has a handle. Quality is their first priority. Tactiman has a Lifetime warranty on its products. They are behind their product and warranty. Within 24 hours, any of your questions or requests will be answered.
👤The saw was the first thing that appealed to me. Cheap saw retention as well. Hatchet is good enough. There are areas between the axe head and handle head that are glued or miscast. The extra money for the Gerber might be worth it. Fiskars and a SilkyBoy are worth extra money.
👤The axe was added to my disaster box, but not light enough to take on a weekend backpack trip. It is definitely worth the money. Very happy with it.
👤Tactiman is a brand that makes protective carrying sheaths. This is my honest review of this product. It is an honest review for better or worse. The league allowed me to umpire games my sons were in. I think safe is an out and out is safe. My sons were upset at times. On to the review. It arrived quickly. Very happy with that. This is a really good idea, but it didn't work out. I was excited to try out all the parts. My excitement was short lived. The first time I got the saw out of the handle, I had a few words in my mouth. Years of raising my kids. I pried the screw driver out after giving up. I think the saw is sharp. Smaller branches will be cut by it. My hands were dry because of the smooth and slick handle. If one is not careful, that could lend one to a bad slice. When I put it back into the axe handle, I loosened it and let the buckle hold it in place. There is a The whistle/fire rod is located in a plastic sheath. I used a wash cloth and a pair of pliers to get it out. The whistle is not loud when I blow it. The environment your rescuers would have to be in is pretty large. Your messed up. The fire rod produced nice sparkage, but it was short and skinny, and I like the sheath that protects one from the edge of the axe. I hope it's tough enough to last in a real world. The axe is the main event. The axe feels good in my hand and is close to balance for me. The thing is dull and out of the box. The only way I could make it kindling is by breaking smaller diameter branches by laying them at an angle on a larger piece of wood and using the weight of the axe. No chopping, just force. I will be using an axe tosharpen it. My review is based on the condition of the box. The axe will perform better once it is sharpened. This is based on the box. Great idea, but failed.
👤This is an idea that combines a hatchet, a tree saw, a flint and a whistle. I like having emergency things like this, and we bought it to keep in the camper. I can only give it 2 stars because of the case and design. I jammed the whistle into it and can't get it out, because the swivel on it comes undone almost immediately. The idea of having the hatchet hanging straight down or parallel to the ground was an interesting one, but the STAR BIT wouldn't stay tightened even after I took the time to find it and tighten it back to its original tightness. I can barely get the tree saw out of the handle. Fix those issues, ditch the star bit, and you could get a 4 or 5 star review from me.
It measures 10-1-5 by 5-1-5 by 4 inches. Get what you need in a professional camping kit. The kit includes: a personal water filter straw, a multi-functional tool, a first aid tourniquet, a wire saw, an emergency blanket, a flashlight, a band-aids whistle, and a fishing card. The upgrade hard case can hold all items. The water filter straw can remove harmful substance. The smallest solid particles are found in the environment. It is helpful to reduce plastic water bottles using the water filter. A good partner for disaster water supply. The camping kit case is portable and lightweight, with a weight of only 1.28 pounds. It is easy to put it in a backpack. The water filter straw provides clean water, the multi function tools can quickly cutting branches, and the emergency blankets can retain 90% of body heat. All items are packaged in a good quality box. It's a good gift for fathers day, Christmas, new year, and other special days. It is a perfect gift for Dad Men Father Boyfriend.
👤I like to be prepared and this kit looked like a good lightweight addition to my pack. In my video, I show you everything. There is a small black bag that holds everything. Everything seems to be in working order. The kit has a filter straw in it.
👤A good knife, a spork/opener, and a pen are included in the kit. There are fire starter, filter straw, and more. The pieces are well designed and seem sturdy, but this is not a complete kit. The flashlight case is too big for a AA battery. It's probably smaller than a 18500 battery, but you can easily adapt it to use AA batteries. I wrapped a layer of Moleskin around it. It will be safe and dry in the flashlight if you have moleskin around.
👤The survival kit arrived on time. We used most of it this past weekend to see if it works. Yes, it does. My boys started a fire with the flint, we cut small limbs with a saw and used a knife for many applications. This set is worth a lot of money. Some of the ware on the tested products are shown in the pics. We have more to try on our next camping trip. Enjoy and thank you!
👤This was a perfect gift for my son. He enjoyed opening it and seeing the items. He thought about how he would use each implement. We thought the flashlight's battery was missing a part. It works so don't be confused. It requires a AA. It is a win. Two whistles that aren't loud, one goes on your key ring, but they do the trick. To be prepared!
👤You get what you pay for, with no instructions, nothing to tell you what to do, and not everyone is a master of the outdoors. The all in one tool is a perfect size but the finish is rough. The knife has everything I wanted, but it feels cheap. The mini flashlight is the worst part of the kit. They didn't grind the inside enough and the battery didn't fit. This has nothing to do with the seller. There are some things that I would change to make it a better kit. The value is great. I wanted to point out a few things that could be better, so I would recommend it.
👤You can't beat this for the money, I'm an emergency supply collector. You can put everything in the velvet case. A personal water straw, a durable foldable knife with case, 2 flash lights, emergency blanket, Paracord with compass, a spoon/fork combo fire starter/striker, whistle, multitool can opener, and more are included. I'll be buying gifts for these kids.
👤It is a good quality kit. A good knife. The limb cutting saw iscent. A good fire starter. A good pen, glass breaker, and defense tool. The straw has 2 good accessories. The contents are good. If you don't already have a storage bag, get one that is visible and easy to access. I would recommend this kit to anyone.
Tactical and military are the type of sport. The package weight is 5.0 lbs. The body is made of steel. Cerakote will not break. Scales on a handle. Attaches To Pack, Body Armor, and Other. The axe head is made in the USA. The pry bar has a hammer head. The handle is tan with a steel body.
👤So far, three stars, use it for work. I would give higher, but there are many things that go into rating items. Performance is the winner in work related uses. The rating is lowered by the price in comparison to others. Many can't afford an OOP of the unit when there's others on the market that do as well. Smaller companies that make US made breachers, axe's, that rate higher as they perform well, are a better price. The sheath for the axe is good, but it was thrown away. I used regular molle web clips to hold it. I will update the rating in 6 months, but I was not able to make a day in my vehicle, I attached a pic with the stock molle sheath before throwing it away.
👤Corinne bought this for me. I am a firefighter and am always looking to try out new tools, unlike many who are looking at this for the zombie assault at world's end. I was curious when I saw that the military had a design by Gerber. I decided to give it a try after some research. There are better tools for forcible entry. It is nearly impossible to beat a set of irons in skilled hands, which is a combination of a flat head axe and a Halligan bar. I wanted something light. I grab a short hook and my radio when I am a company officer. I was able to make a shoulder strap to hold the tomahawk at my side and not impede me while wearing full structural turn out gear because this is small and light. This allows me to have a small pry/chop tool when looking for fire extension. A forcible entry tool is more likely. I don't need to go back to the engine. We had to make a forced entry to a steel door with a steel frame and we had to check for open windows, keys under mats, etc. One firefighter was told to get the irons. I decided to try this tool while he was there. The pry end was small enough to fit into the small gap, and the angle on the end made it easy to lean full body weight and pry against the door. The tomahawk was quick to work the dead door. The Irons would have made entry, but this is a tool I always have with me, and it has a lifetime warranty from Gerber. I think I will keep this handy, other than crews acting like fools at shift change playing with the tomahawk. I plan on cutting a gas shut off into the handle.
👤The tool is the best since sliced bread. It isn't good for slicing bread, but that's not the purpose. It is an emergency tool. I bought it for my go bag when the next disaster threatens. If you can't smash through a windshield or make your own entry into a room, what's the point of having a water purification bottle, tarp, deck of cards, energy bars and zip ties? I've only used it for a few things, including cutting down some ivy, throwing it at a tree, and cutting a banana. Don't tell my wife about that part, but a 7-year old could balance it. It looks tough and well designed. Is it a bug out bag, or is it a perfect strap to the side of my bag?

👤I needed a second bag after buying a new car. The box of goodies had everything I needed. The multi-functional hatchet/hammer is the best item. This is a must have. I always have a fire starter, knife, fishing kit, and flashlight. A single AA battery is needed for the flashlight. The fire starter was a decent size. The rest of the items would be useful. This is a waterproof hard case. I had to play a game to get everything back in. It is stuffed!
👤I gave this to my husband for his birthday. He is a hunter and fisherman. I worry about him not having a survival gear. The price was very reasonable. You get a lot of stuff. He could survive until we find him. I would recommend anyone to hunt.
👤The survivor kit is great for hiking. I wanted to give him a nice quality kit so he could use it while he is out hiking. It comes with everything you need to survive in the wilderness.
👤My brother received this gift. He said he loves it. Highly recommended!
👤The gift was bought as a present. I was impressed with the kit and went through it all. The quality of the conents seems really nice and I like how compact everything is. I know my husband will love it. I would give it to others.
👤I opened all the items that came with the set. The tools are of good quality. You can use most of the tools in this kit around the home. I think this kit is worth the money. I would highly recommend it. I don't write reviews often. I wanted to let you know that I am excited about this gem. It has a nice case and carrying bag. It was perfect.
👤This is a gift. It was a pleasure to discover all the survival essentials. The knife and axe tool was very high quality. I will be taking this kit on my next camping trip.
👤This product is great. Everything you need to be prepared is in this very well made package. The recipient was very fond of the gift. The tools are made well and are sharp. Great purchase! Will buy again.
👤The kit has everything you need to survive in the bush. The items fit in the case. All items are made to order.
👤I gave it to my teenager so he could go camping. He is very happy. There are a lot of items that he likes.
👤Mon cousin has vraiment content.
Their tools are made in the USA using the finest American steel. 3 STAINLESS STEEL TOMALS The tactical hatchet blade in the throwing axe set is 1.75-inch. Flimsy axes and hatchets are dangerous. The SOG tomahawk outdoor set is built to last and comes as sharp as any other SOG tactical tomahawk. The all-in-one nylon hatchet sheath has a three-pocket throwing hatchet sheath and a camping axe sheath with straps. If you take care of your axes and hatchets, they will take care of you, and they will consider repairs and replacements for your properly maintained SOG tomahawk throwing hatchets. If you take care of your axes and hatchets, they will take care of you, and they will consider repairs and replacements for your properly maintained SOG tomahawk throwing hatchets.
👤I put red heatshrink tubing over the paracord handles because I was worried about losing the black hawks on missed throws. If you hit the handle of another hawk, the heatshrink and paracord underneath will still slice instantly, but at least the rest of the heatshrink prevents the paracord from unraveling. The hawks are small and light, and you will have to throw them with more force because they rotation a lot. They are easy to stick to once you get the right distance and release. I can stick the blade at a distance of about 15 feet. The Fasthawk has one rotation at roughly the same distance. I missed many throws with impacts to the hawks during the first session. The hawks are holding up. They are fun for what they are and would like them to be a bit heavier. The steel is holding up well and paracord gets damaged easily. Overall, 5 stars. If you adapt your technique to the light weight, you will have no complaints about this set of hawks. There is tons of fun.
👤These are not as heavy as I thought. These don't have the heft that I was expecting. There is nothing wrong with them. Don't expect to use them to do a lot of light work. These boys are fun to watch. You will be having a great time if you watch a quick video on some tips and tricks. The lighter weight is not the only thing that makes these well made. There is no sign that they are failing, even though I've thrown a couple hundred into them. They are sharp out of the package. The sheath works despite the fact that it leaves a lot to be desired. I put super glue on the knots of the parachord because after a few throws, they started to fall apart. They are still great a few months later. I haven't had tosharpen them yet. They are in need soon. It's still a blast to throw. I highly recommend.
👤I loved these. We had to spray paint them so they wouldn't lose their lives if they missed the target. The people at our wedding enjoyed throwing these.
👤One of my grandsons said I needed another set after I bought my first one. I teach 3, 8 and 9 year old grandsons and a 15 year old granddaughter how to throw and they love it. They can't handle them. These are not toys, they are very sharp edges, and can do terrible harm if used unsafely. If you get 1 to stick in the target, you have to move to the next target because they are sharp and the rope wrap handle cuts very easy. We have had a lot of misses so far. Throw safely and have fun.
👤These are not sharp out of the box. Nothing to break, one piece. One of the hawks cut into the handle of another on the first day. I wrapped them in tan camo. They look better than the original. It took very little time. If you're worried about the paracord unraveling, just burn the ends.
The cotton can endure at least 10,000 strikes. Premium quality magnesium core strikers. The flint metal permanent match lighter is a great deal to play as an edc survival tool, which is great deal to camping, hiking, backpacking and adventure outdoor. Permanent match is made of zinc alloy and weighs 1.3 ounces. Every day carry it with you, put it in your pocket, car key chain, or backpack. It is a must-have hiking or camping gear for hunting, traveling and other outdoors activities because of its utility and convenience. Works equally well when it's cold or wet. The cotton can endure at least 10,000 strikes. Premium quality magnesium core strikers. It is a great gift for friends and family on any occasion like Birthday, Father's Day, Anniversary, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any other day.
👤I had to laugh after reading the bad reviews. You have to add fuel just like a lighter. You have to hit the strikers a few times to get the factory coating off. These lighters are designed for survivalists. Learn how to use it. The thing is great.
👤This means you don't know how to use a simple lighter, so I have to laugh. The flint strikers work fine once you charge the wick. I know I'm old but I don't know you need fuel to light this lighter. It may take a few strikes, but my old 60 year old Zippo does the same. It's great to have a key chain for emergencies.
👤They are barely a spark.
👤Useful addition to your camping/hiking supplies. I haven't used mine yet, but the instructions are a little unclear. Remove the black wax from the flint strips for the first time. The small contact area is not good for spark making. The "black wax plating" does not work very well. I used a pumice stone to get this done. It took quite some time and still didn't get it all off. I got enough off to start a fire. It seems like this protective coating could be easier to remove. The fluid leaking out of the bottom of the bottle is the only problem I've had. There is a black plastic plug that screws into the bottom, but it doesn't arrive sealed, or at least mine didn't. I was able to fix it once I was aware of it. This set seems to be more decorative than functional, but I wouldn't purchase it unless I wanted to go on an adventure. It's better to purchase another brand for dependability.
👤I got one to work. The screw plug on the bottom was very difficult to open, to fill with lighter fluid and the plastic got stripped from the screwdriver. The seal ring on one was broken so the unit wouldn't work. I have one of those lights. The seller was not very helpful when I contacted him. It's difficult to make sense of the directions that were sent for filling the product listing.
👤It's very difficult to strike and catch flame after a small amount of use because the wicking burns away. It worked better at first, though I wouldn't call it easy to strike, and the size of the flame was so inconsistent that I can't imagine anyone using this regularly to light candles or cigarettes. I'm disappointed that I didn't use it as much as I would have if it was a Bic lighter. The execution fails to live up to the concept of novel and fun. This is a novelty only, which is disappointing because I could see myself using it over traditional matches.

If there is a problem with the item, please contact them. If there is a problem with the item, please contact them.
👤When I first got this thing, I wanted it to perform well. I was very disappointed in the first time I used it. The drill bit works well and does a good job, but the eye only lasted a short time before it got bent up. I really had high hopes for this, since it feels pretty solid, but it didn't last as long as I wanted it to. Save your money and get a better one if you plan on using this thing.
👤Does what it says it does. Even though it is a tight fit, you can keep the leather cover around the tool, even if it is in the carry container. This is a good thing, but the item is very sharp. I dropped it on the floor and it landed at an angle. It is a very good item. Don't put it in your house. I bought a second one as a backup because this item was so good.
👤The video is not accurate. You have to pull it off on a small limb. The corkscrew part worked well, but the other part was not. Wait and let the wood shrink before it releases.
👤Stick with a stick. This tool doesn't stack up.
👤The tool is a descent but limited.
👤You can use the tool to make bush furniture and structures. To carry.
👤This works as advertised. I have tried large drill bits and they don't compare to how easy and safe this is.
👤I bought this for my husband and he loves it. He's been making stuff. I don't have pictures.
