👤The eye is not 1” I think it is made in China. The eye is small. It is more of an annoyance since I wanted to use a 1” dowel for the handle.

👤It worked great on both green and dry wood, but it was a bit more difficult on scrub oak, but it was still fine.

👤A really neat tool. There are a lot of options for crafting while camping. The drill and eye are very sharp. I like that the eye can be used to make a peg. It's fun to pass time while camping or building legit structures. I have been using this tool for a couple months now and it's not a bag or anything, it's a highly recommended one. I made a canvas pouch for myself after I received it.

👤They had to return two of them because they didn't have a sharp eye. The returns were hassle free and the seller apologized for the incorrect labeling.

👤The end for making pegs was damaged but not beyond repair. I didn't expect much from a cheap tool, but it will need repairs before service.

👤It is a handy piece of my bushcraft kit. If you need this tool, you know you will need to fine tune and maintain it.

👤The cutter has Dented pegs on the inside and a ridge on the outside.

👤It works well for my needs.

2. Drill America DMS73 0011 Carbon Polished

Drill America DMS73 0011 Carbon Polished

Easy Work Gloves and Drawstring Carrying Pouch are included. It's great for use in plumbing all drain pipes, including kitchen and bathroom sinks. There is an instruction manual on this page. Comes with a polished finish. When run in a counterclockwise direction, spiral tools evacuate chips up and out of the cut to reduce clogging. Comes in a package.

Brand: Drill America

👤It was made of carbon steel, which didn't last very long. I drilled 6 holes in the lumber before it wore down and wouldn't grab the wood. The wood drilled up the flute is not evacuated. It stops penetrating after getting caked at the tip. I took it to a person to besharpened and he said it was too worn down to be retooled. I only drilled 6 holes. I only got 40% done with my project because of the 6 holes. I have to buy a new one, but this one won't be it.

👤The bit in ships Auger is good for the price, but it isn't really high quality. There were chips in the spiral out of the package, nothing that would diminish the function of the chip ejection, but it doesn't say good things for either the steel quality or the manufacturing process. The cutting edge was a bit dull with a rough grind and will be hard to use. Since I didn't want to pay $200 for a good one, this is a good alternative. If you are going to occasionally use it, you should invest in a high quality bit. It looked better than many others I have seen in this price range.

👤After boring 2 dozen holes, it got dull. I did not hit any nails. I wish it would have held up longer. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

👤It was a wonderful bit. The big aplough was big. It's a rough casting and the grinds are sloppy. It's cheap and strong. It works well with a small diamond file. If you're worried about the problem, just put the wood in the back and front.

👤Started using this instead of a spade. This bit works well on the M18 fuel drills and should be used in a corded drill. I was satisfied with the product.

👤I used this for drilling holes for my metal farm gate and it was very well built and worth every dollar I paid for it.

👤A high quality tool. It is possible to cut through 12 inches of pressure treated lumber. Would buy again.

👤This is a bit that I love. I drill a lot of holes. It's been the best I have used so far.

👤One of the things that you practice in your backyard is a tool like this. This set comes with a nice case. I've been testing this hand out and it's been great. I assumed it would be a good tool because it was well-packaged when it arrived. I found the canvas pouch useful for storing it alongside my other bushcraft gear, and the safety tip was nice. I've begun working with a mallet on some furniture. The welding point is flawless and the bit is razor-sharp. I've had some before, but they've never been as good. It has always been difficult to find a decent one. The lead screw on it is long and nice, so it holds the wood well. I'm really happy with it, I've just used it on hardwoods. An electrophoresis coating is applied to a piece of equipment. If you're not familiar with the term, it refers to the process of creating a highly resistant surface. If you just want a settlers wrench, this is a great addition to your survival kit.

👤This little tool works like a sword. Love it! Excellent piece of kit. The cutter in the top handle hole cuts the diameter of the branches and sticks them into the holes created by the auger. You can use the hole in the top handle to cut handle diameter to fit through the top hole and use the auger. The tool is easy to use. It's definitely durable and nice quality. The tool makes building shelters, tables, chairs, and ladders so easy that it goes so fast. I don't go into the woods without Awesome tool.

👤The Scotch eye was not sharp. The edge was thick. It was difficult to make peg ends.

👤The drill cover is useless.

👤The case is not made of leather.

👤A fun piece of outdoor gear. I saw these on a survival show and was interested. The concept is cool. You can drill a hole and shape a peg with one tool. You should be able to make a pretty sturdy shelter that doesn't rely on a bunch or rope. I wanted to see if this would work for my kids, who are making a fort in the woods. The center screw point on the auger helps pull the bit into the wood. You need a strong stick to put in the eye of the tool so that you can turn the drill bit. The eye is supposed to be used to create a peg. It's not as functional as the auger. You need to trim the end of the stick to a size that is close to the "eye" diameter and then use the "eye" as a way of shaving that end perfectly round. If you try and do something that is too big it will either get stuck or split the stick, which is better than just shaving the end. I tried several different sizes of premade stick-like objects to see what would work as a handle for drilling, but a simple 1in broomstick fits the best and is lightweight. This could be useful in a real emergency situation or in a long-term camping setup. I picked up 4 different types of this tool from 4 different companies, but there are differences between them and here's my thoughts as I compared them while doing the same task: The first two were half-inch diameter and the last two were 1/3 in. I think the shaft will get bendier with the repeated beating and torquing on it, and this didn't seem to affect the function. The welds on all 4 seemed to be functional if not terribly attractive, however the one that gets the lowest rank didn't have full welding into the eye itself which means it will be more likely to snap off. Only one of the sheaths had a real leather one, which set it above the other tool. There are two products, the first is a 1/2in shank, solid welds, and the second is a thick synthetic sheath.

👤When I first got this thing, I wanted it to perform well. I was very disappointed in the first time I used it. The drill bit works well and does a good job, but the eye only lasted a short time before it got bent up. I really had high hopes for this, since it feels pretty solid, but it didn't last as long as I wanted it to. Save your money and get a better one if you plan on using this thing.

👤Does what it says it does. Even though it is a tight fit, you can keep the leather cover around the tool, even if it is in the carry container. This is a good thing, but the item is very sharp. I dropped it on the floor and it landed at an angle. It is a very good item. Don't put it in your house. I bought a second one as a backup because this item was so good.

👤The video is not accurate. You have to pull it off on a small limb. The corkscrew part worked well, but the other part was not. Wait and let the wood shrink before it releases.

👤Stick with a stick. This tool doesn't stack up.

👤The tool is a descent but limited.

👤You can use the tool to make bush furniture and structures. To carry.

👤This works as advertised. I have tried large drill bits and they don't compare to how easy and safe this is.

👤I bought this for my husband and he loves it. He's been making stuff. I don't have pictures.

6. Survival Bushcraft Backpacking No Broken Barbecuing

👤The package I received was a GODCRAE Survival gear Bushcraft Auger drill bit and leather hand guard. This Bushcraft has a self tapped pilot screw. The product information says that it is aluminum alloy in one place and steel in another. It's not clear what material the Auger is made of. The seller says it is made of High Carbon Steel. The leather hand guard protects your palms from getting pinched between the Scotch Eye and the stick when you use it. It's too small to allow the velcro to grab. You end up fighting the guard more than it is worth. In survival situations, Bushcraft augers can be very useful. It takes a lot of practice to be able to use it and joint wood together. This is not an auger that I would recommend. I chose a 3” branch and didn't expect any problems with it. The blades dulled so much that they wouldn't cut any deeper than the first inch. The tool didn't make it through the first job. The cutting depth should be 5. You should account for the wood you use for your projects. This tool takes effort and elbow grease but is something that allows you to create items that may be of great use in a survival situation. The self tapping pilot screw on the auger is very useful in securing your pilot hole before the auger starts cutting. The pilot screw helps pull the auger down in testing. This set comes with a nice case. The cutting edge of the auger is sharp but not certain how long it will last. The weld is better than the ones I have seen on other augers. Lifetime Service is offered by the manufacturer on this product. You are taking the time to read this. I received a product in exchange for a review. This is not a product I would recommend. I took it to the first task and it failed testing. If you are serious about Bushcraft, you will want to purchase a high quality auger. The tool lacks the cutting quality and edge retention that is necessary for a tool of this nature. Hope this information helped. This product is made in China.

👤The item we bought was to install a mole chaser. To do that requires a deep hole. It works best when you have a well fitted hole with packed dirt around it, so the sound waves can travel through the dirt. We decided to buy this after a few days of trying different methods to dig that hole. What a wonderful thing! It is easily worth the money. I was worried that our drill wouldn't power it, but it cut into the ground without a problem, and I was relieved. The hole was dug in a minute. Wow! I would recommend this to everyone. The only reason I've given it only 4 stars is because it's not balanced very well, either the one we got isn't straight, or something about the auger part unbalancing it, but it is a bit of a workout. I can't complain since it worked well. If you get one like ours, the hole might be reamed out a bit. I read some reviews where people said it doesn't cut into the ground well. It comes with a black cover on the tip. It's black and similar to the tool so maybe people haven't noticed it, but I'm guessing you'll be in the same boat as those guys.

👤We used the drill bit to make a hole in the sand for our beach umbrella. It was perfect. The bit allowed us to drill a hole deep enough so that our umbrella wouldn't blow away. It was what we needed.

👤I thought it would work for flower bulbs, but not for tulips and daffodils. It's too small of a hole. It doesn't work in dry ground. I had to wet the ground because the electric drill smoked and my rechargeable drill couldn't turn it. I'm sorry, but that's probably not the fault of the product. I don't know what this is for. I thought of flower bulbs. What else do you buy?

👤I received a long soil auger, a small screw, and some other items. It does not look like the photo. This is what everyone gets based on the comments. The mine has less screw than others. It works well. I use it to drill out dandelions and deep holes in my lawn. Our soil is heavy and it doesn't move water or air. I pack with good organic material that allows water and air to flow through the soil. I have been doing this for a long time and the lawn has been getting better. I drill the deep holes in the spring because the soil needs to be damp.

👤I like this bit. It is packaged well. I dug a hole under my sidewalk to bury the electrical wire. The dirt was quickly removed by this bit. I had to hold the auger in a way that it wouldn't hit the ground. It's funny. I used a drill that was powerful. Thanks to the other good reviews, I was able to pick a quality product.

8. Inch Auger Drill Bit Planting

Inch Auger Drill Bit Planting

60-inch long bow has durable limbs. Heavy duty steel with glossy black painted finish. When you are digging hard grounds, the drill bit point on it hits the ground first. The distance between the digging blade start and the point is minimal, so the auger drill bit will start working on hard ground without having to push down. The size is with a non-slip drive. You can quickly dig holes up to 20 inches deep and 3 inches wide with your hand held drill. Their earth drill bit is easy to use and will work with any drill size. In minutes, plant hundreds or just a few bulbs. A minimum 14V drill is recommended for corded drills. The spiral hole drill is the best choice for increasing efficiency when planting bulbs, potted plants, vegetables, flowers, bare root trees and shrubs, tilling soil or planter boxes, mixing seed, soil, fertilizer, paint, or batches of mortar mix for hardscapes. It will be helpful for you. Improve your work efficiency by using their bedding plants drill bit, it will make hundreds of holes in a few minutes. A life saver for you!

Brand: Tcbwfy

👤I bought this bit to remove a small tree in the fall. The tree is about 10 years old and has a 4 inch trunk. I want to loose the dirt only with this drill. I will use a shovel to remove the dirt. I tried it at the base of the tree and it ran a lot slower than my 1/2 inch drill motor, so I changed it to my 1/2 inch drill motor. I plunged the drill bit into the ground. The plan is to do this many times. If it works for me, I will let you know. Thanks. Robt.

👤The chuck end is painted so it easily loses grip when you encounter anything denser than loam, which is a flaw that this auger has. It is starting to show signs of permanent stripping. Expect to modify this thing after getting out of the grinder. This thing is wobbly when securely chucked. This is not built to exact tolerances, so it's not a bad thing. When you really get this thing going, the core rod is warped. The tip or bit end can't handle rocks and will jam abruptly, so prepare your wrists for that! It's cheap. This is a cheap and untested product that should be easy to refine.

👤Feed auger experiment requires a 3/8" drive. I wanted to make one single flight from the two flights I bought. You get about an hour. 16 inches of flight. I was able to combine two. There was a little over 30 minutes of flight. The material was easy to fabricate and durable. I am happy with the quality and dimensions. The tip was cut back up inside the flight. The length of the drive shaft. The Harbor Freight Dremel cutoff blade was used to open the untouched auger. I used a side grinder to cut the flight welds. I pulled the severed shaft from the flight and put the other untouched drive shaft up inside the flight. My goal was to make a feeding device. All worked as expected.

👤I used this tool to dig 100 holes for Christmas trees. It's made of Oregon Fir tree forest clay. It's very difficult to dig in water in a dry summer. The clay sticks to everything. When we decided to put in Christmas trees for our grandson's future, we hated the planting because I have planted hundreds of plants here. We used an old heavy duty drill to start the generator and went to work. It wasn't hard to clean the grass and clay from the tip. Some of the trees were larger than the tiny ones. We used a root cutting spade to give the hole a bit more room for the bigger root ball after we drilled the hole. It took us two days but it worked out. You must use a heavy duty drill. It's not a magic wand, but it did save us time and backs. Ten seconds per hole! Honest! Thank you for the great product.

Brand: Chpower

👤It's sharp enough for now. It was necessary to use it to try it. It's good to have it in your back pack.

👤I tried it out on a white pine log and it was nice and sharp. If you use a long stick for leverage, it will be fine. Soft woods like pine will work well. If you are planning to use it, then I would spend a bit of time sharpening it. The quality of the welds is decent and it is similar to the design of a scotch eye. I would use the long blade for anything I could think of.

Brand: Ladech

👤It was dull and banged up, looks used! I have to re-sharpen it. It's not evenly ground on the Dowell cutter. Disappointed.

👤Poorly welded and cut. There is a safety issue in handling sharp burs.

👤I use it to climb.

👤The finish of this product was disappointing. There were burrs on the inside of the beveled side when I looked over the scotch eye. It looked like unskilled welder welded eye to shaft. There are wells and splatters all around. I don't know if this will hold up to use. Next time, I will try to fix burrs.

Brand: Black Raven Bushcraft

👤I like this little bit. It needed a little finishing out of the box. If you can make it work, it comes with a tube that can be used as a storage container. I had a few things that I wanted to put together. I probably won't be using my tinder stick to start fires as much as I do because it makes a nearly perfect handle. The rubber end cap was easy to find and I wrapped it in paracord to make it look nicer. I used an old belt attachment strip from a wallet chain as a latch to hold the bit in place. It allows me to hang the bit from a tree branch.

👤I will finish with the great news if I start with the bad news. I bought it for what it was, and it is not great. I wanted to make holes for log cabin joints. The cabin is being tried in older techniques. The son of a bitch is very high quality and razor sharp. Made the holes very easy. This thing is still super sharp after 8 smaller log joints. The build quality is exceptional, but I wish it was about 4 inches longer. 5 star rating because it is worth it. Shipping time is great and it feels good.

👤It was well made. The protective coating is thick. Made many chairs and tables quickly.

👤I haven't used it much yet but it's a very well made tool and the welding job for the eye is pretty much top notch. I made a mallet for my froe. It eats through the wood. If you made dowels, it would work out just fine. Purchasing a few more for gifts is something I'm thinking about. I wish it came with a storage tube or something like that. There is nothing a quick trip to the hardware store can do.

👤If you are serious about bushcraft, you want to take it to the next level. It is a great way to do it. It opens up a lot of possibilities for camping and survival situations. This can be used for many things. The sky is the limit if you use your imagination. There are a lot of sub par shirps out there. It was too small and made from inferior materials. It is made to last forever. It was worth every penny. It requires very little effort to bore a clean hole in green or dry wood. Buy this thing! It is definitely worth it.

👤The auger was received. Is a solid product, but not perfect in finish, with some rough spots on eye and drill point. If you're looking to go through some stout logs, it's a little short. They have the option to buy a longer bit. The stool worked well through the dry ash. Also did not have a problem with the dry maple. I had to push hard to get the auger to bite in the holes that had some dry rot and soft spots. I will get more of these.
